Resilience in Adolescent Girls in Child Welfare: Reliability and Validity of the RS-14.

PURPOSE: Up to one-third of patients treated with primary radiotherapy (RT) for prostate cancer (PCa) experience biochemical failure (BCF). In selected cases, re-irradiation represents a salvage option. PSMA PET/CT is a valuable tool for detecting intraprostatic recurrence and guiding re-treatment planning. Although visual scoring systems such as the PRIMARY score (PS) have been proposed, none are currently validated for this setting. This pilot study investigates the role of a visual classification system in optimizing salvage re-irradiation strategies. METHODS: We retrospectively analysed p

Is Self-reported Return to Duty an Adequate Indicator of Return to Sport and/or Return to Function in Military Patients?

BACKGROUND: In the military, return-to-duty status has commonly been used as a functional outcome measure after orthopaedic surgery. This is sometimes regarded similarly to return to sports or as an indicator of return to full function. However, there is variability in how return-to-duty data are reported in clinical research studies, and it is unclear whether return-to-duty status alone can be used as a surrogate for return to sport or whether it is a useful marker for return to full function. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES: (1) What proportion of military patients who reported return to duty also retur

Factors affecting return to sport following hamstrings anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in non-elite athletes.

BACKGROUND: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is a common injury affecting non-elite and elite athletes. Although most ACL reconstructions restore the mechanical stability of the injured knee, the rate of return to sport (RTS) is varied. HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE: We aimed to identify why non-elite athletes fail to return to pre-injury sport level. The primary objective was to assess the frequency of RTS (including type of sport, timing, level, and duration), and the secondary objective was to assess the surgical (injury, type of surgery, re-injury) and patient (demographics, function, sympto

An Unusual Case of Eosinophilia.

Various inflammatory markers have been used to show an association between welding and respiratory tract disorders due to inhalation of fumes. We hereby present a case of 19-year-old male, welder by occupation who presented with upper respiratory tract infection and was documented to have persistent moderate eosinophilia on serial Complete Blood Count (CBC) examination. This was also confirmed by bone marrow examination which was suggestive of increased eosinophilic precursors. Eosinophils are an inflammatory marker and are increased most commonly in respiratory tract of welders due to inhalat

The impact of atopic dermatitis on work life - a systematic review.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) has considerable multidimensional personal and societal costs. However, the extend to which the patient's work life is affected due to AD is more sparsely described in the literature. The objective of this review was to examine the impact on work life for patients with AD, with a specific focus on choice of education and occupation, sick leave, social compensations and change of job due to AD. A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed, EMBASE and Web og Science up to 7 February 2017 for articles on the impact on work life for patients with AD. Results were s

Quality of life, social impact and functional outcome following ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis and familial adenomatous polyposis.

This study aims to assess quality of life (QoL), functional outcome, and social impact following ileal pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA) for ulcerative colitis (UC) and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) since Indian data is limited. Data was collected prospectively from patients who underwent IPAA for UC or FAP from 2004 to 2013. QoL and functional outcome at 1, 3, and 5 years after surgery, return to work, and change of job (social impact) were documented. QoL was assessed using the validated Cleveland Global Quality of Life (CGQL) score, the normal score being 1.0. Twenty-five patients were a

Occupational asthma and work-exacerbated asthma.

Occupational asthma (OA) and work-exacerbated asthma (WEA), collectively known as work-related asthma (WRA), have been recognized as the most prevalent work-related lung diseases in the industrialized world. OA is asthma caused by workplace conditions, and is subdivided into sensitizer-induced (allergic) OA and irritant-induced (nonallergic) OA. WEA is asthma that is made worse, but was not initially caused, by workplace conditions. Although WRA is rarely fatal, patients with WRA frequently experience excessive time lost from work, workplace-specific severe disability, loss of income, job loss
