Screen Time and Behavioral Correlates Among Children in the United Arab Emirates: A Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: The rapid digitization of childhood has intensified concerns over excessive screen exposure and its behavioral consequences. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where digital access begins early and is near-universal, evidence on how screen use relates to behavioral symptoms remains limited. This study explored associations between daily screen time, behavioral concerns, and parental mediation among children aged 1-15 years in the UAE. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between March and August 2025 across two healthcare centers and through community referral networks.

Mapping remembering, recovering, and relating: At-risk mothers' needs across pregnancy and postpartum within a multimodal digital peer-support intervention.

PROBLEM: Perinatal research on mobile health interventions has shown limited attention to how at-risk mothers express their needs within structured, moderated, and clinically embedded digital platforms. Little is known about how these needs evolve longitudinally across the perinatal period. BACKGROUND: The perinatal period is marked by increased vulnerability to psychological distress and psychosocial stressors, especially among at-risk mothers. Mobile health interventions have therefore gained prominence as accessible strategies to support maternal wellbeing. AIM: This study examined the na

How to Conduct Usability Testing of Medical Education Simulations: Methods Tutorial Using a Telemedicine Simulation for Maternal Care.

BACKGROUND: Clinical educators regularly use simulation-based education to help learners develop clinical reasoning, procedural skills, and communication strategies. However, differences between simulated and live clinical environments, such as missing case details or workflow interruptions, can reduce realism and divert learners' attention from the intended learning goals. While published design guidelines recommend pilot testing simulations, they do not explain how to systematically identify usability problems. Human factors evaluation methods can address this gap by identifying issues befor

E-cigarette exposure impairs skeletal muscle mitochondrial function in male mice.

While conventional tobacco-cigarette smoking continues to decline, e-cigarette (E-cig) use is rising, yet its physiological consequences remain poorly characterized. Chronic activation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) by tobacco smoke impairs skeletal muscle mitochondrial function. Here, we evaluated whether E-cig vapor elicits AHR activation and mitochondrial dysfunction in skeletal muscle. C2C12 mouse myoblasts were exposed to 1% dimethyl sulfoxide (vehicle), 0.02% tobacco-smoke condensate (TSC), or vape condensate (VC) at 0.006%, 0.06%, and 0.3%. CPFTransGAN: A Cross Perception Fusion Transformer-Based Generative Adversarial Network for Head and Neck Cancer Dose Prediction in Radiotherapy.

Radiation therapyis one of the primary treatment modalities for head and neck (H&N) cancer in clinical practice, aiming to deliver sufficient dose to Planning Target Volume (PTV) while protecting surrounding Organs at Risk (OAR) from or minimizing exposure to radiation. Quantitative dose prediction of various tissues and organs is a prerequisite for implementing intelligent precision radiotherapy. In order to improve dose prediction accuracy, we propose a generative adversarial network CPFTransGAN based on Cross Perception Fusion Transformer (CPF Transformer). Specifically, we design a CPF Tra

Radiation-response in Deinococcus bacteria: characterization of the transient IrrE-DdrO heterodimer complex.

Radiation resistance in Deinococcus requires an SOS-independent response mechanism, controlled by M78 family (COG2856) metallopeptidase IrrE and XRE family transcriptional repressor DdrO, to induce expression of DNA repair genes after exposure to radiation. DdrO must form dimers to bind target DNA sites. IrrE inactivates DdrO by cleaving the C-terminal dimerization domain of DdrO. However, the molecular basis of the interaction between IrrE and DdrO is still unknown. Here, we showed that IrrE is monomeric in solution and forms heterodimers with DdrO, with the N-terminal DNA-binding domain of D
