Caring for Preterm Infants on Home Oxygen: A Descriptive Qualitative Study of Caregivers' Experiences in Belgium.

BACKGROUND: In the Flemish part of Belgium, preterm births and NICU admissions for acute lung diseases have increased. Nearly half of extremely preterm infants develop bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), requiring prolonged oxygen therapy. Oxygen dependency often delays hospital discharge, leading to more infants going home with oxygen. Caregivers, especially mothers, face significant stress and emotional challenges during this transition, worsened by social isolation due to infection fears. PURPOSE: To gain a clearer understanding of caregivers' experiences caring for oxygen-dependent infants

A scoping review of "nursing-technology collaboration" in home-based rehabilitation for the elderly under the long-term care insurance system.

BACKGROUND: Under the long-term care insurance system, home-based rehabilitation is a key service model for addressing population aging, but it faces the dual challenges of a shortage of care workers and increasingly complex service needs. The introduction of emerging tools, such as digital health technologies and social assistive robots, has opened up new possibilities for home-based rehabilitation. However, whether technology can truly improve care outcomes depends on the collaborative working model between nurses and technology-known as "nurse-technology collaboration." There is currently a

'It Should Be All Hands on Deck': A Qualitative Exploration of Shared Experiences and Needs of Older Adults, Family Carers, and Health Professionals in Disability Management in China.

BACKGROUND: Population ageing has increased the demand for disability care services in China. Disability in older adults is associated with adverse health outcomes and therefore requires a collaborative approach involving hospitals, communities and families. However, the collaborative experiences and needs of key stakeholders-older adults, family carers and health professionals-remain underexplored from a multifaceted approach, hindering the development of integrated care systems. OBJECTIVE: To explore the experiences, perceived challenges and collaborative needs of older adults, family carer

Older people in Sweden increasingly enter long-term care with extensive care needs-a register study of first-time users based on the SNAC Stockholm Eldercare study.

Although previous studies have addressed factors associated with current long-term care (LTC) use, little is known about older adults' care needs and life situation at the point of entry into formal LTC (e.g., home care, institutional care). Using data from the SNAC Stockholm Eldercare study, we identified all individuals aged ≥ 65 in the municipality of Stockholm who entered publicly funded LTC for the first time between 2015 and 2022 (n = 33,393). Descriptive statistics and regression models were used to examine: (1) temporal trends in sociodemographic characteristics and care needs among in

Nurses' Experiences of Caring for Children on Long-Term Mechanical Ventilation.

BACKGROUND: The number of children with long-term home mechanical ventilation (LTV) is increasing globally. Parents become experts on their children's needs and sometimes know more about LTV treatment than non-specialist healthcare professionals. Nurses caring for LTV-dependent children in intensive care settings adjust to a collaborative caregiving role; however, this interaction has not been described in general paediatric wards. AIM: To describe nurses' experiences of caring for children and adolescents with established LTV at general paediatric wards. STUDY DESIGN: We conducted individua

"The Window of Opportunity": A Qualitative Exploration of Individual Reminiscence in Care Home Settings.

Background: Care homes are complex care environments where supporting residents' identity, wellbeing, and sense of personhood is central to person-centred care. Reminiscence is widely recognised as a psychosocial approach that can support these outcomes. However, existing evidence has largely focused on group-based interventions, with comparatively limited attention given to how individual reminiscence is implemented and sustained within care home practice. Methods: This study was an implementation-focused qualitative exploration of staff experiences of introducing and embedding individualised

Exploring determinants of patient attitudes toward telemedicine in primary care: a cross-sectional study in Türkiye.

BACKGROUND: Telemedicine is a promising tool for integration into primary care, where it can enhance access and continuity of care. In Türkiye, telemedicine has not yet been routinely implemented in primary care, although regulatory and infrastructural preparations are underway. The success of such services depends not only on technical and legal frameworks but also on patients' attitudes. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess patients' attitudes toward telemedicine and identify associated factors among adult attendees of family health centers (FHCs) in Türkiye, to inform the planning and imp

The Role of Caregivers in Preventing and Managing Malnutrition Among Older Adults: A Narrative Review.

Background/Objectives: Approximately 1 in 10 community-dwelling older adults are affected by or at risk of malnutrition, and this prevalence increases to nearly 1 in 3 among those receiving home care or recently hospitalized, contributing to higher rates of frailty, falls, hospitalization, functional decline, and mortality. Many of these individuals depend on informal or family caregivers for nutritional care, including assistance with grocery shopping meal preparation, feeding, and monitoring dietary intake. Thus, informal caregivers play an increasingly central role in supporting dietary int

Loneliness Among Older Adults Receiving Long-Term Home Care Services: A Quantitative Study.

INTRODUCTION: Loneliness, which significantly impacts physical and mental health, quality of life, and longevity, is recognized as a global concern among older adults. Although home care services are generally viewed as beneficial, they may also fall short in addressing the psychosocial needs of older adults. This study aims to assess loneliness and its associations with well-being and personal characteristics in older adults in Lithuania receiving long-term home care services. METHODS: A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted between September and November 2024. A translated versio

Associations of Person-Centred Planning and Service Coordination With Health Outcomes of Adults With Developmental Disabilities.

BACKGROUND: People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience significant health and healthcare disparities. Home and community-based services (HCBS) are crucial for the health and well-being of adults with IDD, and national regulations mandate person-centred planning (PCP) for all HCBS service administration. Despite these requirements, limited evidence exists on how PCP impacts health outcomes. This study examines the association of PCP and health outcomes, unmet healthcare needs and preventative care access. METHODS: This study uses 2021-2023 National Core Indicators

Effects of home-based digital-assisted dyadic Tai Chi training in Chinese chronic heart failure patients and family caregivers: a randomised controlled trial protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Lack of exercise or sustained low engagement in exercise represents a significant risk factor for adverse health outcomes among chronic heart failure (CHF) patients. Concurrently, family caregivers of patients with CHF often endure considerable caring burdens, leading to low quality of life (QoL) and diminished health status. Substantial evidence supports that Tai Chi has beneficial effects on cardiac function and heart failure prognosis. However, conventional Tai Chi interventions are often constrained by limitations such as site dependency and overlook the roles and needs of ca
