Radioresistant thymic cells encompass minor subsets of lymphoid precursors of T cells (TLPs), innate lymphoid cells (ILCs), as well as stromal-epithelial and endothelial populations. This review focuses on radioresistant TLPs and their regenerative and functional roles in thymic regeneration following damaging influences, particularly irradiation, as well as their secretory product, referred to as thymocyte growth factor (THGF). Retrospective analysis of experimental data assumes that THGF-producing and THGF-responsive cells correspond to the earliest stage of thymocyte precursors, double-nega

Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are rare malignancies originating from thymic epithelial cells, comprising thymomas and thymic carcinomas. The heterogeneity of TETs poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, necessitating the identification of reliable biomarkers to improve classification and treatment stratification. The integration of multiomic approaches and artificial intelligence are transforming biomarker discovery, offering new insights into TET pathogenesis and therapeutic vulnerabilities. However, clinical translation of these biomarkers remains limited due to the rarity

INTRODUCTION: Neuroendocrine neoplasms represent a rare and poorly understood collection of malignancies. A better understanding of their biology is needed to improve treatment options. Male predominance to the incidence of neuroendocrine neoplasms of the thymus suggests a biological basis for this observation.
METHODS: This single-institution, retrospective cohort study evaluated androgen receptor (AR) expression and other clinicopathologic features in thymic neuroendocrine neoplasms compared with thymic epithelial tumors and neuroendocrine neoplasms of other sites. Expression of neuroendocr

OBJECTIVE: Thymoma and mediastinal lymphoma (ML) are the most common cranial mediastinal masses in cats. Considering differences in treatment and prognosis, accurate antemortem diagnosis is essential. However, fine-needle aspiration can be inconclusive. Computed tomography (CT) is often used as a diagnostic tool, though apparently no previous studies have directly compared CT findings for thymoma and ML. This pilot study was a preliminary investigation of using CT to differentiate thymoma from ML in cats.
ANIMALS AND PROCEDURE: Six cats diagnosed with either thymoma or ML underwent triple-pha

A deep-learning model applied to chest CT scans reveals that variation in thymus health tracks with both cancer susceptibility and clinical response after treatment with checkpoint inhibitors. The findings point to routine imaging data as a scalable approach to risk assessment and therapy selection, and highlight the underappreciated role of thymic function in shaping cancer outcomes.

Thymoma-related aplastic anemia is a rare entity. This article retrospectively analyzes the clinical features and treatment course of a patient who developed aplastic anemia (AA) post-thymectomy, complemented by a systematic review of relevant literature. A 47-year-old female was diagnosed with thymoma, myasthenia gravis (MG), and severe AA (SAA). SAA onset occurred two weeks after total thymectomy, and the patient ultimately succumbed to concurrent COVID-19 infection following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). We also reviewed the clinical characteristics, treatm

PURPOSE: Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are a group of rare thoracic malignancies with undefined global epidemiology. Comprehensive descriptions of prevalence features in TETs are informative in providing insight into the shifting epidemiologic patterns, problems with detection, and, therefore, better understanding and management of TETs.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data were obtained from the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents database. Age-standardized incidence rate (ASR) and average annual percentage change (AAPC) were calculated by age, sex, region, country, and human development index (HDI

Generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) is an antibody mediated autoimmune neuromuscular junction disorder characterized by muscle weakness and fatigue as well as acetylcholine receptor antibody (AChR-Ab) as the main presence. A proportion of patients fail to achieve minimal symptom expression (MSE), furthermore 10-20% of them develop into refractory under conventional immunotherapy. We conducted a retrospective study to explore the effectiveness and safety of telitacicept in gMG and thymoma-associated MG (TAMG) patients. The treatment response was assessed by the variation of QMG, MG-ADL and MG-Q

BACKGROUND: Thymectomy for generalized myasthenia gravis (MG) without thymoma and with anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody gained evidence-based support following the publication of the MGTX study in 2016, demonstrating its therapeutic efficacy. Consequently, the number of thymectomies increased in the United States. Trends in thymectomy for this condition in Japan is investigated. METHODS: Thymectomy reported in The Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery (JATS) Annual Report from 1996 to 2023 was analyzed. Annual numbers of thymectomies were reviewed according to surgical approach, non-th

BACKGROUND: Resection of giant anterior mediastinal masses (AMMs) has traditionally required median sternotomy as the limited operative space and visibility of conventional video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) pose significant technical challenges. In this study, we describe a percutaneous suspension technique using a Tian-Ping sternal lifter, to facilitate uniportal VATS for the complete resection of a giant teratoma. CASE PRESENTATION: A 28-year-old Chinese female presented with a three-month history of intermittent chest pain and cough. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a 17.0 × 9.0

Thymomas are well-established disruptors of central immune tolerance, yet their capacity to drive systemic autoimmunity via a single autoantigen remains incompletely characterized. We report a 59-year-old male who, following resection of a Masaoka stage IIb type B2 thymoma, developed sequential neurological, endocrine, and renal manifestations over 18 months. Clinical evaluation confirmed stiff-person syndrome (SPS) with axial muscle hypermetabolism on PET-CT, latent autoimmune diabetes (HbA1c 11%), subclinical hypothyroidism (TSH 15.28 μIU/mL), and distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA) evidenc

The discovery of cancer's hidden antigen landscape-comprising non-canonical 'dark matter' antigens-has unveiled a vast, untapped reservoir of immune targets for next-generation cancer immunotherapy. While most cancer vaccine strategies of the past decade have focused on mutation-derived neoantigens, studies applying sensitive mass spectrometry methods fail to identify the majority of predicted neoepitopes being presented by tumor human leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecules, potentially explaining negative results of several recent neoantigen vaccine trials. By contrast, peptides from non-canonical

Matrine (MAT), a commonly employed Chinese botanical, has a long-standing history of application in the treatment of inflammation and cancer. Nevertheless, the precise molecular mechanism underlying MAT's impact on thymoma remains unresolved. Consequently, the objective of this investigation was to assess the influence of MAT on thymomas and ascertain the potential mechanisms through which it modulates the Wnt3a/β-catenin pathway. Thy0517 cells were treated with different doses of MAT to construct a thymoma cell therapy model in vitro, and given Wnt3a/β-catenin pathway agonist Laduviglusib for
