Plexiform schwannoma is a benign peripheral nerve sheath tumor composed exclusively of Schwann cells arranged in a plexiform pattern. Most plexiform schwannomas are skin tumors and visceral localization is very rare. To our knowledge, there are six cases localized in visceral organs. We describe a patient with symptomatic giant hepatic hemangioma treated with hepatectomy. A 53-year-old woman presented with upper abdominal distension and appetite loss. We report a case of adenocarcinoma of the minor duodenal papilla, a rare type of duodenal neoplasm. A 76-year-old man with a history of surgery for rectal cancer and gastric cancer was referred to us after a follow-up upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed an abnormal elevation in the minor duodenal papilla. OBJECTIVE: The study reviews the endoscopic and histological features of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infections of the upper gastrointestinal (UGI) tract.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Clinical histories, endoscopic findings and bioptic specimens of 30 cases of HCMV infection of the UGI tract, diagnosed in a University Hospital in a 10-year period, were reviewed.
