Malignant melanoma shows an unusual predilection to metastasize to the small intestine. Three patients with malignant melanoma involving the small bowel are reported. We performed endo-organ full thickness gastric excision to treat a high-risk patient with T2 gastric cancer. BACKGROUND/AIMS: There has been no thorough clinicopathological analysis of a large number of cases with mucin-producing tumor of the pancreas. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinicopathological features of and therapeutic strategy for this ailment.
METHODOLOGY: Two hundred and fifty-nine cases of mucin-producing tumor of the pancreas were analyzed clinicopathologically.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare neoplasm, arising in the adult and more commonly in the pleura. For many years it has been referred to the serous surfaces of the body, namely pleura, peritoneum and pericardium; recently cases arising in mesenchymal organs such as lung, mediastinum, liver and paranasal sinuses were reported. BACKGROUND: Mycobacterial infection of the parotid gland is rare even in countries where the disease is rife. Because patients do not have specific symptoms of tuberculosis and tuberculosis of the parotid gland frequently presents as a neoplasm, most patients undergo parotidectomy.
PATIENTS: In this text we present a case report and the review of 20 well documented cases from the literature. The problems of diagnosis and therapy, especially the problem of distinguishing tuberculous infection from another parotid swelling such as a benignoma or a granuloma, are analyzed.

BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is now the treatment of choice for gallstone disease. The wide acceptance of LC resulted in increased cholecystectomy rates and entailed specific drawbacks such as missed malignant tumors of other organs.

A rare case of primary jejunal malignant mixed tumor arising in a 49-64-old Japanese male with von Recklinghausen's disease is reported. Presents the findings of mycologic examinations of 12 patients with carcinomas of various sites. Though such examinations were carried out because of mycotic involvement of the mucous membranes of the digestive and respiratory organs, profound studies have revealed malignant tumors. A case history is presented. The authors come to a conclusion that candidiasis may complicate and mask the course of malignant tumors of various sites over all the phases of their development. This necessitates purposeful search for a possible tumor in patients with deep mycoses.

The risk of colo-rectal cancer (CRC) in subjects with a positive family history (FH+) for malignancy has been assessed by means of a case-control study carried out between 1987-89 in an area of about 215,000 inhabitants in Southern Italy.
