Chylothorax is an uncommon condition. It's characterized by the presence of chyle in the pleura. The most common causes are malignancy and trauma. When an underlying cause is excluded, the chylothorax is called idiopathic. We report a case of a 68 aged woman, admitted for abundant chylothorax. Thoraco-abdominal computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging of the chest and thoracotomy showed no lesion of the lymphatic duct. Fibrothorax has developed after pleurodesis. A 7-month old infant presented with an effusion and multiple lesions in his spleen. A diagnosis of lymphangiomatosis was made based on chylous effusion and an MRI demonstrating numerous enhancing lesions within the spleen on T2-weighed images. In Japan, EBV positive rate in immunocompetent patients with nodal lymphomas is less than 10% in B-cell and 20-50% in T cell lymphoma. The aim of this study was to present the diagnostic problems in pts treated for invasive aspergillosis (IA) in the IIIrd Clinic of the Institute of Tuberculosis in the years 1993-2005. The material consisted of clinical documentation of 18 pts. 15 out of 18 pts (83,4%) died. In all those cases autopsy examination was done. Malignant mesothelioma of the pleura is a rare neoplasm with a poor prognosis. The most often symptoms of this disease are dyspnoe and chest wall pain, which is often associated with pleural effusion. We present 35-years old woman with 5 epizodes of pneumothorax during 3 years (4 of right side and 1-bilateral) in whom bilateral pleurodesis was performed. Specimens of lung and pleurae were examinated. Result of microscopic and immunohistochemical examination was: mesothelioma epithelioides pleurae (mesothelium +, calretyninaa +, EMA+ membrane reaction, desmine +/-).

A 19-yr-old binturong (Arctictis binturong) with acute upper respiratory disease was euthanized. Postmortem findings included hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic islet cell carcinoma, and renal adenocarcinoma with metastasis to the spleen, pleura, and pericardium. A link between primary hepatic and renal neoplasms has been noted in older humans.

Primary pleural angiosarcoma is an extremely rare tumor. We report the case of a patient who presented with recurrent massive bilateral hemothoraxes. Although thoracoscopy was performed, biopsy samples of the pleura were inconclusive. The delayed onset of skin metastases led to the diagnosis of angiosarcoma, however the patient died from pleuropulmonary progression before treatment could be started. We review the literature of primary pleuropulmonary angiosarcoma and discuss its treatment modalities.
