[Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD): Drug and psychotherapeutique management, a literature review].

INTRODUCTION: Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) was first recognised in July 2013 in the DSM-5 after a long journey to identify its existence. It was not until 1983 that the US National Institute of Mental Health determined research criteria for the study of PMS. In 1994, the term "premenstrual dysphoric disorder" (PMDD) replaced this term in the 4th edition of the Diagnostic System Manual (DSM). It was listed in the section "Mood Disorder Not Otherwise Specified" and remained under consideration until the DSM-5, in which it appeared in the depressive disorders section. The legitimisation

Idiopathic catatonic syndrome in a young male with no prior psychiatric history: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Catatonia is a syndrome characterized by severe psychomotor disturbances such as hypomotility, bradykinesia, and unusual movements. The condition has been described in the context of a wide variety of primary disease processes, including psychotic and mood disorders and numerous general medical conditions. In the medical community, catatonia is misunderstood, under-recognized, and under-treated. There continues to be debate about whether catatonia is an independent syndrome or a secondary expression of other conditions. This is a unique case presentation, as there are few reports d

Renal Neoplasia Occurring in Patients With PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome : Clinicopathologic Study of 12 Renal Cell Carcinomas From 9 Patients and Association With Intrarenal "Lipomas".

The aim of this study was to assess the histopathologic spectrum of renal tumors in patients with PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome (PHTS), with a specific focus on potential features predictive of the underlying syndrome. A multi-institutional study was conducted to obtain clinical and pathologic data on renal tumors arising in patients with PHTS, either diagnosed by germline mutational analysis or clinical criteria for Cowden syndrome. Histologic sections of the renal tumors were re-reviewed for classification. Twelve renal epithelial tumors from 9 patients were identified (4 males and 5 females

Dots and spots: A retrospective review of T2-hyperintense white matter lesions in pediatric patients with and without headache.

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine if T2-weighted hyperintense white matter lesions (WMLs) on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) occur more frequently in pediatric patients with migraine and other primary headache disorders compared to the general pediatric population. BACKGROUND: Small foci of T2 hyperintensity in the white matter are frequently identified on brain MRI during the workup of pediatric headache. Such lesions have been reported to be more common among adults with migraine versus adults without migraine; however, this association has not been well established in the pediatric p

Hepatitis B immunization status and risk factors of people aged 1 to 69 in Huangpu District, Shanghai, China.

BACKGROUND: China has long been with high Hepatitis B Virus(HBV) prevalence in the world. The HBV prevalence of people aged 1-59 decreased to less than 8% in 2006, and by 2020, HBsAg positive rate of children aged <5 decreased to less than <1% which was due to the free three-dose hepatitis B(HepB) immunization for newborns nationwide since 2002. Huangpu district was selected as one of the pilot areas for free Hep B vaccination in newborns since 1986, which formed an early protection in the population from mother-to-child transmission. However, the existed HBV infected people were still needed

Definitions and implications of the pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic parameters of antibiotics in pediatric clinical practice.

Knowledge of infectious diseases and their treatments is constantly evolving. New infectious agents are regularly discovered, mainly due to improvement of identification techniques, especially the development of molecular biology and mass spectrometry. While changes in the epidemiology of infectious diseases are not always predictable or readily understood, several factors regularly enter into consideration, such as not only the natural history of diseases, the impact of vaccinations, but also the excessive and irrational use of antibiotics. The ischemic model of chronic muscle spasm and pain.

This article was not intended to be a complete review of the electromyography of pathological muscle states, but it was written to illustrate how the "Coletti Method of EMG ChemoDenervation" (CMECD®) protocol for the treatment of chronic pain resulting from chronic muscle spasm was developed and established. That process led to an unexpected understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of chronic muscle spasm, which represents a paradigm shift in our understanding and ultimately in our treatment of muscle spasm-induced chronic pain. Other investigators had brought to light the presence of s

The management of anticoagulants in patients with atrial fibrillation and history of falls or risk of falls: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Atrial fibrillation affects an estimated 33 million individuals worldwide and is a major cause of stroke, heart failure, and death. Anticoagulants substantially reduce the risk of stroke but are also associated with an increased risk of bleeding and especially intracranial hemorrhage which is the most concerning complication. Because of this, many patients are not offered anticoagulants, particularly patients at risk of falls or with a history of falls. It is unclear what anticoagulant treatment these patients should be offered. The Liverpool AF-Falls project aims to investigate th
