OBJECTIVES: Women are a growing prison population in Canada, yet there is a lack of systematic data collection on the reproductive health of people incarcerated in prisons for women. The objective of this study was to describe a wide range of reproductive, gynecological, and breast health histories, including access to preventive services, among people incarcerated in a provincial prison for women in British Columbia.
STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional survey design was used to meet study objectives.
METHODS: We adapted a survey instrument previously administered in four provincial prisons in A

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Unintended pregnancy leading to induced abortion is a significant public health concern affecting women’s reproductive health globally. In China, a high rate of repeat induced abortion persists, yet the determinants among specific populations like those in Wuhan’s Guanggu area are not fully elucidated. Identifying high-risk groups is crucial for developing targeted interventions to reduce repeat procedures. The study aimed to investigate the factors influencing repeat miscarriage among adult women of reproductive age in Guanggu, Wuhan, China. METHODS: A retrospective

BACKGROUND: Uninsured, low-income Spanish-speaking women face systemic barriers to accessing gynecologic care, especially within Fort Worth, Texas. Because of this health disparity, we elected to evaluate screening outcomes of patients receiving care at La Clínica de las Mujeres (LCDM), a student-run clinic (SRC) providing free, culturally competent care to this population in Fort Worth, Texas.
OBJECTIVES: To assess the structure and utilization of an SRC on cancer screening adherence among uninsured, Spanish-speaking women in Fort Worth, Texas.
DESIGN: Retrospective descriptive pre-post stu

INTRODUCTION: Intimate partner reproductive coercion (IPRC) is a common form of violence that undermines reproductive autonomy through behaviors such as contraceptive sabotage and pregnancy pressure. Although clinicians have the potential to offer meaningful support, data are limited regarding durable, consistent harm reduction interventions. Incorporating survivor perspectives is essential to ground clinical responses in lived experience and the complexities of IPRC. This study aimed to identify survivor-informed strategies to support reproductive autonomy.
METHODS: We conducted an explorato

Abortion remains a significant public health concern and often results from unintended pregnancies. Although abortion rates have declined, approximately 40% are still due to unplanned pregnancies. We conducted a subanalysis of the FIKA study, a survey on sexuality among Japanese women aged 18-45 years, to examine factors correlated with abortion. We analyzed responses obtained from 3228 sexually experienced women, who were categorized based on abortion history. Sources of knowledge about intercourse and contraceptives were assessed using a standardized questionnaire. A decision tree analysis w

BACKGROUND: While sleep is closely related to menopause, existing research has primarily focused on the impact of menopause on sleep, leaving the influence of sleep patterns on the timing of menopause largely unexplored. This study aimed to investigate the associations of sleep duration and quality with age at natural menopause.
METHODS: This study included women with complete data on sleep patterns and natural menopausal age from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) cycles 2005-2018. Logistic and linear regression models, progressively adjusted for demographic, lifes

BACKGROUND: Given that primary prevention strategies for ovarian cancer, such as surgery and medications, have inherent risks, identifying those at high risk of lethal ovarian cancer is critical. We examined prediagnosis factors and risk of developing and dying from ovarian cancer among cancer-free women.
METHODS: Analyses were conducted in three 12-year periods from 1980 to 2017 in the Nurses' Health Study (NHS) and NHSII cohorts. Potential risk factors were reproductive and hormonal variables, endometriosis history, smoking, low-dose aspirin, self-identified race, family history, depression

BACKGROUND: Menstrual distress is a multifactorial health concern influenced by various biological and psychological determinants. Despite growing interest in menstrual health, the interplay between sociodemographic factors, contraceptive history, and pre-existing health conditions in relation to menstrual distress has not been sufficiently elucidated. This study aimed to examine the associations between age, educational background, occupational status, contraceptive history, type of contraceptive used, and the presence of reproductive or psychiatric disorders with menstrual distress levels am

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Endometriosis affects ∼10% of women of reproductive age. Emerging evidence suggests a link between endometriosis and systemic inflammation, potentially increasing the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), yet data on the association between endometriosis and VTE are lacking. The aim was to examine the association between endometriosis and long-term risk of VTE.
METHODS: A nationwide, registry-based cohort study including all women with endometriosis from 1977 to 2024, matched 1:4 on birth and index year with women from the background population without endometriosis. The

BACKGROUND: Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is a major challenge in in vitro fertilization (IVF). The window of implantation (WOI) is the endometrium’s receptive period for embryos, and endometrial receptivity analysis (ERA) is a potential intervention for transfer failure, requiring further validation. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of ERA in improving clinical outcomes for patients with RIF and to identify clinical factors that influence WOI displacement in this patient population. METHODS: A total of 284 RIF patients undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) were div

Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) encompasses conditions characterized by disturbances in sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, and/or pain during intercourse. Influenced by multiple factors, including psychological conditions and hormonal status, it is particularly relevant for medical students, a group prone to mental distress and of reproductive age. This cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence of FSD and its association with contraceptive use among female medical students in Brazil. A total of 241 participants completed an anonymous online survey covering sociodemographic data, sexual health
