Evaluating the Hebrew version of the financial exploitation vulnerability scale.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Assessing financial exploitation (FE) in older adults has proved challenging for various reasons, including low base rates, underreporting, and/or inaccurate reporting. Measuring FE risk is one way to overcome some of these inherent challenges, yet few measures exist that do so. One measure that holds great promise is the Financial Exploitation Vulnerability Scale, and its short-form (FEVS, FEVS-SF, respectively). The present study examined the measurement property evidence for a Hebrew version of the FEVS and FEVS-SF. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Participants (N =

Multimodal Perioperative Pain Management for Children with Medical Complexity.

Children with medical complexity (CMC) experience poor perioperative pain outcomes. To improve their pain assessments and treatment, CMC require multidisciplinary pain management across the perioperative period. This includes engaging CMC and/or their caregivers in pain assessments, attempting to mitigate pain issues preoperatively, and developing treatment plans based on children's unique histories and the types of pain anticipated by the specific surgery. Multimodal analgesia is the gold standard for perioperative pain management, and providers should consider nonpharmacologic methods and an

Prevalence and correlates of anxiety and depression among LGBT individuals in Nepal: a cross-sectional study.

OBJECTIVES: Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals have faced marginalisation and discrimination despite legal advancements, such as those in Nepal. While Nepal has constitutional protections for LGBT rights, the community still deals with social stigma, harassment and mental health challenges. Limited research exists on LGBT mental health in Nepal, with studies mostly focusing on sexual health. This study aims to assess the prevalence of depression and anxiety among LGBT individuals of Kathmandu Valley, focusing on the factors associated with anxiety and depression. DESIGN

Countermovement Jump and Quantitative Electroencephalography Assessment in Division I Football Athletes: An Exploratory Neurophysiological Study of Return‑to‑Play Readiness.

BACKGROUND: The countermovement jump (CMJ) is commonly used to assess neuromuscular performance in athletic populations; however, force plate-derived mechanical metrics may not fully reflect central nervous system (CNS) contributions to persistent deficits following musculoskeletal injury. Quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) offers cortical-level measures that may complement force plate assessments and provide additional insight into neuromuscular function. PURPOSE: To explore neuromechanical, movement quality, and cortical activation patterns during countermovement jump performance in

Remote Monitoring of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Reveals Intrinsic Capacity in Older Adults.

INTRODUCTION: Unadopted intrinsic capacity (U-IC) may be an early indicator of loss of independence, reflecting the gap between intrinsic abilities and actual engagement in daily activities. Impairments in instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) are central to this construct but are usually assessed subjectively. We developed and evaluated a remote patient monitoring solution that operationalizes U-IC by combining objective measures of mobility, IADL engagement, frailty, and patient-reported outcomes, and tested its ability to identify older adults with cognitive impairment and fallers

A Bayesian network analysis of gait speed change upon transition to uneven surfaces in older adults.

BACKGROUND: Gait adaptability, defined as the ability to adjust walking performance to environmental challenges, likely reflects complex interactions among the central nervous system (CNS) and other physiological systems. However, the drivers of lower gait adaptability in older adults are poorly understood. METHODS: We applied a Bayesian network framework to understand multisystem interactions contributing to percent change in gait speed (%GSC) on transition from even to uneven surface in 159 older adults. Neuroimaging measures include gray matter volume, white matter hyperintensities, striat

Physical activity and healthy ageing among older adults with chronic conditions: a cross-sectional study of functional ability and ageing perspectives.

BACKGROUND: Rapid population ageing poses major challenges for health systems, particularly in middle-income countries such as Iran. Healthy ageing, as defined by the World Health Organization, emphasizes maintaining functional ability and well-being rather than the absence of disease. Physical activity is a key modifiable determinant of healthy ageing; however, evidence remains limited among older adults with chronic conditions and functional vulnerability. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the association between physical activity and healthy ageing among older adults with chronic condi
