Perineal neuralgias may be considered as nerve entrapment syndromes, which have been anatomically poorly studied. The pudendal nerve could be compressed between the sacrospinal and the sacrotuberal ligaments. This study tries to find a correlation between the pelvis and the lumbosacral junction morphometry, and sacrospinal and sacrotuberal ligaments morphometry. We did an anatomical study of eight anatomic specimens, and we performed the measures by using the computed tomography scanner. No correlations were found.

BACKGROUND: In locally advanced pelvic cancer, tumor fixation to the bony pelvis is regarded as unresectable and often inoperable. Few data exist regarding the futility or utility of pelvic exenteration with en bloc resection of involved portions of the bony pelvis.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate MR imaging of sacrococcygeal chordoma.
DESIGN AND PATIENTS: Thirty patients (age range 22-80 years) underwent MR imaging for the diagnosis and preoperative evaluation of sacrococcygeal chordomas. Eight patients had follow-up MR examination after treatment. The MR images were performed with T1- and T2-weighted imaging, and gadolinium (Gd)-enhanced imaging. The MR images were analyzed for the signal intensity, enhancing pattern, tumor size, growth pattern of the soft tissue component, and tumor extension.

Pelvic inclination is difficult to control on a standard radiograph of the pelvis and has a direct influence on the appearance of acetabular version. Twins were diagnosed by ultrasound in a 29-year-old woman. The cesarean delivery revealed at first a mature girl with a large benign sacrococcygeal teratoma and then a healthy boy. X-ray and CT examinations of the teratoma showed pelvic and lower limb bones. A mature teratoma-tridermoma (weight 475 g) containing the underdeveloped lower half of a human body was confirmed during surgery and verified morphologically. The fraternal twins, i.e., the girl operated upon and her brother, have been followed for 5 years and are without any complaints. They have normal neurological function.
