BACKGROUND: Aluminium industry workers are at risk of long-term health consequences.
AIMS: To investigate mortality and cancer incidence in bauxite mine and alumina refinery workers.
METHODS: A pre-existing cohort of workers was re-linked with the Australian National Death Index, and the Australian Cancer Database to provide additional death (7 years) and cancer (9 years) data. Standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) and standardized incidence rates (SIRs) were estimated by job category, duration of employment and time since first employment.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyse the clinical and histopathological characteristics of focal oral melanocytic lesions in a Brazilian reference service in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

Neoplasia is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in captive nondomestic felids. ANIMAL STUDIED: A 7-year-old, female-spayed, Yorkshire Terrier was evaluated for a slowly progressive, dark brown-to-black raised mass of the lower left eyelid. BACKGROUND: Melanoma is a predominantly cutaneous malignancy associated with sun exposure. Mucosal melanoma is rare and carries a distinct pathogenesis from cutaneous tumors. The vermillion of the lip is a unique site that divides cutaneous from mucosal tissues. Tumors arising on the dry aspect are classified as cutaneous and those of the wet aspect are mucosal. The distinction is importation in tumor staging as all mucosal melanomas are classified as T3-T4b under the current 8th edition American Joint Committee of Cancer (AJCC) guidelines.

We present the first documented case of metastatic melanoma to the orbit with dedifferentiation. A patient with a history of melanoma of the lip and other poorly differentiated carcinomas presented with both a sub-brow and an intraorbital mass.
