We report an unusual case of catheter extrusion through the external genitalia. between the labium majus and the labium minus, in a 6-month-old hydrocephalic baby. The event occurred 5 months after placement of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt.

We have repeated a study of the objective (labium minus temperature) and subjective (semantic scales) changes in sexual arousability over the menstrual cycle to erotic video stimulation in 20 women with natural cycles. From 1963 to 1993, 157 patients with primary squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva were treated by radical surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. There were 84 unilateral lesions confined to the labium majus or labium minus. Thirty-seven patients had T1 lesions, median diameter 1.5 cm (range 0.5-2.0 cm), and 47 patients had T2 lesions, median diameter 3.4 cm (range 2.2-9.0 cm). Radical vulvectomy with bilateral inguinal lymphadenectomy was performed in 56 patients and radical hemivulvectomy with selective inguinal lymphadenectomy in 28 patients. Four cases of vulvitis circumscripta plasmacellularis (plasma cell vulvitis) are presented. A case of fibroepithelial polyp of labium minus with stromal atypia is described. This unusual tumor has only recently been reported occurring in the vulva. A case of vulvar paraganglioma is reported. Following presentation with vulvar pain, a 1-cm nodule was excised from the labium minus of a 58-year-old woman. The association of salpingoplasty to the previously described nymphoplasty improves the result of the vaginoplasty of the Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. The pediculate mucous flaps obtained by cleavage of the labium minus are linked with the vascularized tubal flaps from the lumbo-ovarian ligament. In the present observation, this dressing up technique of the new vagina has enabled a quick and complete epithelialization, avoiding a progressive obturation from inwards towards the surface, without the use of a mandrin in the long run.

Sexual arousability of women has not been consistently found to vary significantly over phases of the menstrual cycle. Fifteen women with genital malignant melanoma were studied. Their ages ranged from 19 to 66 years (mean 49.1 years); 12 were white, and three were black. An ultrastructural and light-microscopic study of the second published case of epithelioid leiomyoma of the vulva is reported. The tumor occurred in the right labium minus of a 26-year-old nonpregnant female. Optic microscopy revealed a clear cell neoplasm with a marked relationship to arterial vessels from which it may originate. The ultrastructure was analogous to that of similar cases reported in the uterus and stomach.
