A case of recurrent rupture of the uterus is presented. The patient had a history of left cornual uterine rupture, which was repaired, and she was considered to be suitable for a subsequent pregnancy. During the subsequent pregnancy, attempts were made to evaluate the condition of the uterine scar by ultrasound in order to anticipate threatening rupture of the scar. Intramyometrial coring is a useful method to reduce the size and increase the accessibility to the fundus uteri during vaginal hysterectomy, avoiding unnecessary traction on the utero-ovarian pedicles. A circumferential incision of the isthmus, 5 millimeters deep, gives access to an avascular plane between the myometrial mass and the superficial muscular layer and serosa of the uterus. Coring is easy, safe, non-hemorrhagic and allows the extension of indications of the vaginal route for hysterectomy.

An endoscopic alternative to the surgical treatment of uterine septum is presented. The hysteroscopic technique of septal division is described on the basis of 7 preliminary cases, with emphasis on the equipment used, the choice of the irrigation system, the problems encountered near the fundus uteri, where it is important to spare the myometrium, and the adjuvant treatments, notably in the post-operative period. Interventional hysteroscopy has a very low trans--and post-operative morbidity and seems to be a suitable procedure for the treatment of this type of uterine malformation.

The results of studies on 2396 women are presented. Relations were found between location of placenta and 'ripeness' of uterine cervix, duration of labour, prognostic value of intrauterine pressure, complications of the third stage, fate of the newborn and success of induction of labour. The authors arrived at the conclusion that attachment of the placenta to the fundus uteri may be considered an unfavourable location causing an increase in the number of different deviations from normal labour.

In 173 consecutive cases of hysteroscopy, the microhysteroscope was brought into contact with the anterior part of the fundus uteri. The vascular pattern of the endometrium was then visualized and photographed. As the vascularization of the endometrium changes during the menstrual cycle, a dating of the endometrium was made based on the blood vessel pattern. An endometrial biopsy was taken in each case.
