Enteral nutrition after esophagectomy is commonly provided via jejunostomy; however, conventional jejunostomy carries the risk of small bowel obstruction (SBO). Feeding jejunostomy via the gastric tube (FJ‑GT), especially through the round ligament of the liver (RL), has been reported to reduce the risk of SBO or catheter site infection. However, previous reports have only described open procedures. We describe a novel laparoscopic technique for performing FJ‑GT through the RL during minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) with retrosternal reconstruction. Through an umbilical mini-laparotomy,

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal neoplasms of the digestive tract. While they usually arise in the stomach or small intestine, primary involvement of the hepatic round ligament is exceedingly rare. The synchronous coexistence of such an unusual GIST with colorectal adenocarcinoma (CRC) represents a major diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 66-year-old man admitted with acute intestinal obstruction associated with epigastric pain and abdominal distension. Contrast-enhanced computed

RATIONALE: Gastric perforation is a rare but life-threatening complication of gastric cancer, often presenting with acute peritonitis and requiring emergent surgical repair. The conventional treatment relies on an omental patch (Graham's technique); however, this approach is not always feasible, particularly in patients with advanced disease or omental involvement.
PATIENT CONCERNS: We report the case of a 44-year-old male with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma complicated by peritoneal carcinomatosis who presented with acute abdomen following stent insertion.
DIAGNOSIS: Imaging confirmed gast

A woman in her 20s presented with severe progressive dysmenorrhoea that began within 1-2 years of menarche, was refractory to medical therapy and required repeated emergency department visits for parenteral analgesia. Ultrasonography suggested a uterine leiomyoma, whereas MRI demonstrated a unilateral haemorrhagic cavitated intramyometrial lesion without communication with the endometrial cavity, raising suspicion for a non-communicating Müllerian anomaly. Diagnostic laparoscopy revealed a small cavitated intramyometrial mass beneath the right round ligament with minimal pelvic endometriosis.

The month of March is dedicated to Colon Cancer Awareness. Worldwide, colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence has been on the rise. It is currently the third most common cancer in men (746,000 cases, 10.0% of the total) and the second in women (614,000 cases, 9.2% of the total).1 Arecent meta-analysis reported a 61% risk reduction in CRC incidence with colonoscopy.2 Unlike screening programs for breast and prostate cancers, not only has CRC screening reduced mortality from colon cancer and detected early CRC, it has also decreased the incidence of CRC through detection and removal of pre-cancerous l

INTRODUCTION: The coexistence of gallbladder (LSG) and adenomyomatosis (ADM) is extremely uncommon presenting a novel clinical dilemma that has not been previously documented. LSG refers to a anomaly where the gallbladder is situated to the left of the round ligament deviating from its usual position. This anomaly is rare, with reported occurrences ranging between 0.04% and 1.1%. Identifying LSG before surgery poses challenges. It is often discovered incidentally during procedures necessitating surgical expertise to safely manage anatomical variations.

Traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (TONFH) refers to ischemic osteonecrosis is resulting from an acute mechanical interruption of the blood supply to the femoral head. The early diagnosis and optimal treatment have been central focuses of research and continue to undergo improvement. Reliable animal models are essential for advancing research into the treatment of the disease. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of tetrapod models (rats, rabbits, dogs, and sheep) and bipod models (emus, ostriches), as well as various modeling methods (traumatic hip dislocation, dissec

INTRODUCTION: Cullen sign is an area of periumbilical ecchymosis that results from blood tracking along the round ligament. Any source of retroperitoneal or abdominal hemorrhage can cause Cullen sign, but it is often described in association with acute pancreatitis.
CASE REPORT: Here we report a case of a chronically ill male who presented with a bulging sensation in his lower abdomen and lower abdominal pain. On physical examination this patient was noted to have a large area of periumbilical ecchymosis predominantly on the left aspect of the umbilicus, consistent with Cullen sign. Computed

BACKGROUND: Nonpuerperal uterine inversion (NPUI) is particularly rare and presents a significant diagnostic challenge. This case report describes the youngest case of incomplete NPUI, noteworthy due to the unidentified factor that triggered the uterine inversion.
CASE: This case report presents a retrospective analysis of a 19-year-old female patient diagnosed with incomplete uterine inversion, the main symptoms of which were vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain. Following hemostasis and broad spectrum antibiotics, the diagnosis of NPUI was confirmed through physical examination and supplementar

Ovarian torsion is a gynaecological emergency commonly affecting women of reproductive age, often associated with ovarian or paraovarian masses. However, in the absence of these masses, torsion can still occur, potentially indicating an underlying anatomical abnormality that predisposes to recurrent torsion. This report presents a distinctive surgical technique used in a young girl in her early adolescence with recurrent right ovarian torsion. The patient, with a history of torsion managed by detorsion, presented again with symptoms suggestive of recurrence. Emergency diagnostic laparoscopy re

Venous hypertension in the pelvic veins can result in the development of varicosities in the perineum, and sometimes also in the lower extremities. These varicose veins are anatomically and functionally different from typical varicosities associated with an incompetence of the saphenous veins. Since the pelvic cavity is anatomically separated from the lower extremity and perineum by muscles and skeleton, there are only a few routes through which pelvic veins can communicate with extra-pelvic veins. These routes should primarily be examined during diagnostic workout. In this review article, cli

Ligamentum teres (or round ligament) of the liver is a cord-like structure found within the falciform ligament. Lesions originating from the ligaments of the liver are a rare entity, especially in the pediatric population; they can be either benign or malignant. Here we report a case of a neonatal abdominal mass arising from the round ligament of the liver that was treated with surgical excision, raising the question of possible outcomes if left untreated. We present a case of a term female neonate born with an abdominal mass noticed after being investigated for feed intolerance; the mass was

ObjectivesPeptic ulcer perforation (PUP) is a severe complication of peptic ulcer disease, associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The Graham patch repair (GPR) is the standard surgical treatment; however, when the greater omentum is insufficient, falciformopexy has emerged as a viable alternative. This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of falciformopexy for PUP through a systematic review and meta-analysis.MethodsA systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, Web of Science, and Ovid to identify studies reporting on PUP patients treated with falciformop

Nuck's canal cysts are rare surgical embryological anomalies primarily observed in females under 5 years of age. They occur due to a failure of the processus vaginalis to completely obliterate, a process that should be complete within the first year of life. Clinically, these cysts manifest as a mass in the inguinal region or labia majora, which may or may not be associated with pain. This report presents the case of a 29-year-old female patient who presented with a painful mass in the right inguinal region. An abdominal wall ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a right inguinal

Hepatic surgery, including laparoscopic liver resection, is well codified with difficulty scales on the basis of lesion position, particularly in the posterior segments, lesion size, and underlying liver disease.1,2 These scores are transposable to robotic hepatic surgery.3 Tumors in segment 7 are particularly challenging to expose and are classified as difficult to access.4 Various techniques are used, such as mobilizing the liver with the gallbladder or the round ligament and employing a range of liver retractors. However, these retractors can be traumatic to the liver, are difficult to mane

INTRODUCTION: Effective liver retraction is crucial in minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal surgeries, including laparoscopic gastrectomy and robotic gastrectomy (RG) for gastric cancer, to ensure optimal visualization and sufficient working space. Various techniques have been developed to improve the surgical view, simplify procedures, and reduce complications. However, liver enzyme elevation has been a notable concern in these procedures. To address these challenges, we developed the subphrenic pulley (SP) method, a novel liver retraction technique, and evaluated its safety and feasibil
