Round ligament fibroids are rare, benign tumours that can arise from any part of the round ligament, either extra-abdominal or intra-abdominal, and may present as vulvar, inguinal or adnexal masses. Most often found in premenopausal women, these lesions are generally without symptoms and are discovered by chance. However, they can lead to pelvic pain, particularly if they undergo torsion or increase in size. While imaging techniques such as ultrasonography, CT and MRI are valuable for initial assessment, laparoscopy remains the definitive method for both diagnosing and managing round ligament

Adenomyoma originating from the round ligament of the uterus represents a remarkably uncommon pathological entity. A rare disorder in females called hydrocele of the canal of Nuck is brought on by the processus vaginalis failing to obliterate. We describe a 13-year-old girl who developed a type I hydrocele of the canal of Nuck after presenting with left inguino-labial swelling. Despite misdiagnosis by ultrasound, surgical exploration verified the diagnosis. The hydrocele was completely excised, and the canal at the deep inguinal ring was ligated. The significance of taking this uncommon case into account while making a differential diagnosis for female inguinal swellings is highlighted by this instance.

A woman in her 40s presented with progressive swelling in her right groin and associated lower limb paraesthesia. Imaging revealed a large, septated cystic lesion adjacent to the round ligament of the uterus, raising suspicion for a hydrocoele of the canal of Nuck-a rare congenital remnant infrequently seen in adult women. Surgical excision confirmed the diagnosis. This case highlights a diagnostic challenge, where familiarity with rare embryological variants, in conjunction with detailed imaging, was essential for timely and effective treatment.

BACKGROUND: Chronic postoperative inguinal pain (CPIP) is a major complication after hernia repairs in adults. However, little is known about CPIP in children.
METHODS: Charts of 855 children with an average age of 3.7 years (range, 0-18 years) who underwent laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure (LPEC) between April 2016 and December 2023 were reviewed. Pain after one postoperative month (PIP: postoperative inguinal pain) was the primary outcome measure. Of these, pain lasting more than three months was extracted as CPIP.

Uterine malformations of the rudimentary horn type affect 2 to 4 % of women. Resulting from a defect in the fusion of Muller's ducts, they are responsible for dysmenorrhea and lead to ectopic pregnancies, as well as endometriosis.
