AIM: To investigate the effect of adrenalectomy (ADX) on the epididymidis of Sprague-Dawley rats.
METHODS: The histological, biochemical (cholesterol protein, zinc, copper, alkaline and acid phosphatase aryl sulphatase, lactic dehydrogenase and leucine amino peptidase) and hormonal (FSH, LH and testosterone) changes of caput and cauda epididymis in ADX rats were observed.

A full length cDNA named HongrES1 was isolated and cloned by screening rat epididymis cDNA library using a mouse EST as a probe and 5'RACE followed. The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of propylthiouracil (PTU)-induced neonatal hypothyroidism on the gap junctional protein Cx43 in rat testis and epididymis. Leiomyomas are rare soft tissue neoplasms that can affect virtually any part of the male genital tract. Although they have been described in association with other lesions, to best our knowledge coexistence with leydig cell hyperplasia has not been reported before. We present here the clinical, histopathologic and immunhistochemical characteristics of an epididymal leiomyoma associated with leydig cell hyperplasia and an epididymal cyst in a sixty-eight year old man.

AIM: To describe and review the differential diagnosis of epididymal nodules and chronic epididymitis so as to have a broad view of this pathology. We have suggested a possible diagnostic algorithm for the workup of an epididymal nodule.
