Recurrent atypical leiomyoma in bladder trigone, confused with uterine fibroids: A case report.

BACKGROUND: Tumors originating from the posterior bladder wall can be challenging to diagnose because they may mimic a mass from the uterine cervix. Atypical leiomyoma of the bladder trigone is extremely rare, with few reported cases, and requires caution during surgery to avoid damage to the adjacent ureter. Diagnostic surgery and confirmational pathology are essential to assess whether the tumor is malignant and relieve clinical symptoms. Herein, we describe a case of recurrent leiomyoma with focal atypia in the bladder trigone. CASE SUMMARY: A 29-year-old woman with a uterine fibroid incid

Zinner's syndrome: Masquerading as pyonephrotic ectopic kidney.

Zinner's syndrome is a rare developmental anomaly of Wolffian duct, comprising a triad of seminal vesicle cyst, ipsilateral renal agenesis and ejaculatory duct obstruction, first described by Zinner in 1914. Several aberrations have been reported like renal dysplasia, ectopic ureteric orifice in one of the derivatives of Wolffian duct. Usually it presents in second to fourth decade of life with symptoms of urinary bladder irritation/obstruction, cyst distension, ejaculatory duct obstruction. The diagnosis is principally based on imaging studies, usually confirmed by MRI. Treatment is based upo

Early percutaneous antegrade-retrograde rendezvous repair of a transected ureter-a real therapeutic option.

A 46-year-old female underwent elective laparoscopic hysterectomy. Seven days post-operatively, she presented with urinary leak from the vagina. Computed tomography urogram demonstrated a right complete ureteric transection with leakage of urine into the pelvis and fistulation into the vagina. A rendezvous procedure was performed via a retrograde cystoscopic approach during which a guidewire was used to cannulate the right ureteric orifice and coiled in the retroperitoneal cavity. Subsequently, via a right percutaneous nephrostomy, a guidewire was advanced through the site of ureteric transect

Macrophage renewal modes affect acquired resistance to gefitinib in EGFR‑mutant lung cancer PC‑9 cells.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies documented the problem of inbreeding among Italian Greyhounds (IG) from the USA and its possible role in a multiple autoimmune disease syndrome. The present study is an extension of these earlier experiments and had two objectives: 1) to identify pockets of additional genetic diversity that might still exist among IG from the USA and Continental Europe, and 2) to determine how loss of genetic diversity within the genome and in the dog leukocyte antigen (DLA) complex relates to the problem of autoimmune disease in IG from the USA. Genetic testing was conducted using

Mysterious visitor in the bladder: Ureteral fibroepithelial polyp.

We present a unique case with a ureteral fibroepithelial tumor originating from the ureter, which could be confused with a bladder tumor on ultrasound examination due to its movement in and out of the bladder. METHODS: In cystoscopy, a papillary tumor lesion emerging from the right ureteral orifice was seen. After scanning the other quadrants, however, the tumor was not observed at the right ureteral orifice. It was then protruded back into the bladder. The tumor was seen several times to protrude into the bladder and return to the ureter, possibly due to ureteral peristalsis. Then, a semi-rig

Müllerianosis of the urinary bladder may simulate a bladder cancer: a case report.

Müllerianosis is an extremely rare entity consisting of an admixture of 2 or more müllerian tissues. We report the case of a 61 years old woman who came to our attention with hypogastric pain and dysuria. She was in menopause and had a previous history of cesarean section. Ultrasound and CT-scan of the abdomen showed a proliferative bladder lesion close to the left ureteric orifice. Transurethral resection of the bladder (TUR-B) was performed. Histopathological examination of the specimens was negative for bladder cancer and revealed the presence of endosalpingeal tissue. Postoperative course

Implementation of Supine Percutaneous Nephroscopic Surgery to Remove an Upward Migration of Ureteral Catheter in Infancy: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND: Double-J stents are favorably utilized after pyeloplasty. In rare situations, the stent may migrate upward. Here, we demonstrate the implementation and result of a supine percutaneous nephroscopic surgery (PNS) to retrieve a proximately migrated ureteral catheter in a pediatric patient. PATIENT AND METHODS: A 1-year-old boy was suffering from an upward migration of a ureteric catheter into the right ureter after an open Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty. The child was placed in the Galdakao-modified supine Valdivia (GMSV) position and a PNS procedure was performed. The calyceal access wa

A rare complication of suprapubic catheterisation with obstruction and significant migration into a ureter.

Suprapubic catheter insertion is frequently indicated for patients with a neurogenic bladder. It's an effective and safe way to drain the bladder and can be managed in a community setting by a trained health professional. Here we report a rare case of a 73-year-old male-presenting with a two-day history of frank haematuria secondary to a recent suprapubic catheter change. Imaging confirmed an obstruction of the right ureteric orifice due to migration of the catheter into the ureter. Once the catheter was withdrawn into the correct location his haematuria and acute renal injury resolved and was

An Unusual and Rare Metachronous Ipsilateral Ureteric Stump Metastasis Post Radical Nephrectomy.

We report a case of recurrence of chromophobe renal cell cancer in the ipsilateral ureteric stump eight years later after the primary tumor was excised successfully. Before this detection of the recurrence, the patient had presented with recurrent episodes of hematuria four years after the radical nephrectomy was performed and the investigations were inconclusive. Eventually, the lesion was detected on flexible cystoscopy in the area of the right ureteric orifice protruding in the bladder. Transurethral resection of the tumor surprisingly revealed a chromophobe renal cancer with similar featur

Ureteric orifice obstruction by catheter balloon Post-TURP: A rare cause of obstructive uropathy.

A 50-year-old male underwent small volume TURP for median lobe prostatic hypertrophy. Post-procedure, a 3-way urethral catheter was placed. He subsequently developed flank pain, anuria and creatinine rise. CT demonstrated bilateral obstructive uropathy. In the absence of obstructing lesions, it was suspected that the catheter balloon may have caused obstruction of bilateral ureteric orifices. Balloon deflation (from 30 to 10 mL) and catheter repositioning resulted in rapid resolution of pain and resumption of urine output. Urologists should consider the catheter balloon as a cause of obstructi

[Technical and peri-operative differences between the transvesical and extravesical approach in laparoscopic repair of vesico-vaginal fistula.].

OBJECTIVE: In the laparoscopic/robotic repair (L/R R) of Vesico-vaginal Fistulas (VVF) two types of transvesical and extravesical approaches are used. However, no direct comparisons exist between both surgical approaches Moreover, a lack of clinical guidelines is currently ongoing. Therefore, the selection of the type of approach is based on the preferences of the surgeon without considering the characteristics of each case.In order to provide recommendations for the selection of the appropriate technique for each patient, we designed a study that identifies and evaluates differences between th

Small-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the urinary bladder: A case report.

Primary neuroendocrine carcinomas of the urinary bladder are rare. A 60-year-old male presented with gross hematuria for the past 3 months. Diagnostic flexible cystoscopy revealed a papillary lesion above the right ureteric orifice. Transurethral resection of bladder tumor was performed and resected tissue was sent for histopathology that revealed high-grade urothelial carcinoma with small-cell neuroendocrine differentiation. Lamina propria, muscularis propria, and perineural invasion was seen which was later also confirmed by immunohistochemistry. The patient received neoadjuvant four cycles
