Radiation therapy (RT) has emerged as a promising non-surgical approach for treating canine adrenal tumours. This multi-institutional, retrospective study describes clinical outcomes for 21 dogs having been prescribed a course of hypofractionated image-guided intensity-modulated RT (IMRT) entailing delivery of 25-35 Gy total in 5 fractions given over 5-15 days for an adrenal tumour. Diagnoses were based on imaging (abdominal ultrasound or computed tomography) and biochemical testing. All dogs had unilateral or bilateral irregular adrenal masses with evidence of vessel compression or invasion.

BACKGROUND: Adrenal tuberculosis remains a leading cause of primary adrenal insufficiency in tuberculosis-endemic regions. CONTEXT: Pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma are rare neuroendocrine tumors which overproduce catecholamines and arise from the adrenal gland or extra-adrenal chromaffin cells of the sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia (1). Excessive catecholamine-induced stimulation of cardiac myocytes leads to damage which manifests in several forms ranging from Takotsubo to dilated cardiomyopathy. BACKGROUND: Retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcomas (RSTS) are rare malignant tumors with a distinguishing feature of slow growth in the silent retroperitoneal space. The patients usually present late with a large retroperitoneal mass surrounded by the major vascular structures and visceral organs rendering curative resection an extremely difficult and risky operation. The purpose of the present study was to demonstrate surgical experience and results of treatment of RSTS at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. Operative techniques of these complex surgical procedures were also described.

Endoscopic adrenalectomy has been recommended for the treatment of several benign adrenal diseases. The safety of this procedure largely depends on a careful surgical dissection and appropriate hemostatic technique. Forty-seven cases of neonatal vertebral fractures/luxations occurred in a 21 year period (1967-1987). Plasma adrenocorticotrophin (ACTH) and glucocorticoid concentrations were measured during and for 3 hours after exchange transfusion in four groups of infants. Transfusion with ACD blood via the umbilical artery were performed on 10 infants of 35--40 weeks gestation and 11 infants of 27 to 33 weeks gestation.
