BACKGROUND AND AIM: Intra-abdominal lymphadenopathy poses a diagnostic and management challenge in highly endemic regions for tuberculosis. Opting for empirical anti-tuberculosis treatment raises the risk of wrong or delayed treatment. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is the procedure of choice for tissue acquisition from peri-luminal lymph nodes. We studied the utility of EUS-FNA in evaluating intra-abdominal lymph nodes of unknown etiology, in the setting of high endemicity of tuberculosis.

INTRODUCTION: Diffuse large B-cell non Hodgkin's lymphoma may involve the pituitary either as a primary central nervous system lymphoma or, more frequently, as metastasis from systemic lymphoma leading to hypopituitarism. A partial recovery of pituitary function after treatment with chemotherapy has previously been described but complete recovery with cessation of all hormone supplements is excessively rare. We report a patient presenting with anterior hypopituitarism with subsequent complete and sustained recovery of pituitary function after successful treatment of the lymphoma.

CASE DESCRIPTION: A 4-year-old spayed female Boxer was evaluated for a cutaneous mass located on the dorsum. The mass had been present for 6 weeks and was increasing in size.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: A mass of approximately 10 cm in diameter was detected on the dorsum cranial to the right ilial wing. Histologic examination of a tissue sample from the mass led to the diagnosis of cutaneous pythiosis. Computed tomography of the abdomen and the mass were performed and revealed a contrast-enhancing soft tissue mass of the dorsum and enlarged intra-abdominal lymph nodes.

We report a patient with Sjögren's syndrome who presented with urticarial hypocomplementemic vasculitis. A 46-year-old female was admitted for assessment of ascitis. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical, bacteriological, radiological and therapeutic features of abdominal tuberculosis in a series of 90 patients.
METHODS: This was a retrospective and descriptive multicentre study of 90 cases of abdominal tuberculosis conducted from June 1997 to June 2008. Diagnosis of tuberculosis was based on bacteriologic evidence in 12 cases, histological evidence in 55 cases and on clinical and radiologic features with favorable outcomes under specific treatment in the 23 remaining cases.
RESULTS: Thirty-one patients were male and 59 were female.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) allows for the sampling and diagnosis of lesions of the gastrointestinal system and adjacent tissues. It has also proved helpful with the sampling of lymphadenopathy both for the staging of malignancy and for the diagnosis of lymphadenopathy of other causes.
