Risk of incident hematopoietic cancers in Danish male agricultural workers, 1968-2016.

AIM: Modern agricultural workers may be exposed to a variety of agents that have the potential to cause hematopoietic cancers, including pesticides and viruses. Exposure levels may vary among different groups of agricultural workers and over time. However, epidemiologic studies examining different agricultural workers are lacking. SUBJECT AND METHODS: The Danish Cancer Registry was used to identify men with selected hematopoietic cancers. A total of 9021 cases were included, and for each case, 50 cancer-free male controls were matched by year of birth. Both cases and controls were required to

Antibody-drug conjugate development in lymphoma: a systematic clinical trial landscape analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have established roles in selected lymphoma settings, but the maturity, subtype distribution, and platform diversity of the clinical pipeline remain unclear. We mapped interventional trials to evaluate development trends, evidence maturity, molecular architecture, combination strategies, inactive development, and safety reporting. METHODS: We searched Trialtrove for Phase I-IV interventional trials evaluating at least one ADC in lymphoma, with actual or anticipated start dates through December 31, 2025. Non-ADC studies, observational studies, tria

QTL mapping of starch, protein, and fatty acid traits reveals pleiotropic loci governing rice eating quality in a recombinant inbred lines population.

The circling rat is an autosomal recessive mutant (homozygous ci2/ci2) that displays lateralized circling behaviour, locomotor hyperactivity, ataxia and stereotypic head-movement. These abnormal behaviours occur in phases or bursts either spontaneously or in response to stress. Heterozygous (ci2/+) littermates display normal spontaneous behaviours. We have previously found that ci2/ci2 rats of both genders have a lower tissue content of dopamine in the striatum ipsilateral to the preferred direction of rotation, indicating that the rats turn away from the brain hemisphere with higher striatal

Causal association between circulating Klotho levels and B-cell lymphoma: A 2-sample Mendelian randomization study.

This study aimed to investigate a causal association between Klotho levels and the risk of B-cell lymphoma using a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach. We sought to determine if α-Klotho levels are causally linked to various subtypes of B-cell lymphoma, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We obtained GWAS data for B-cell lymphomas from the FINN Large Cohort in the IEU database and α-Klotho levels from a meta-analysis of GWAS data. The primary analysis employed the inverse-variance weighted method, while sensitivity analyse

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma: unusual clinical and pathologic findings: A report of the 2023 SH-EA4HP Lymphoma Workshop.

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) cases were discussed at the 2023 Society of Hematopathology/European Association for Haematopathology workshop held on November 9-11, 2023, in Houston, Texas. This session focused on the clinical and pathologic spectrum of 3 types of ALCL: anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive, ALK-negative, and breast implant associated (BIA). Cases of primary cutaneous ALCL were excluded because they were included in another session. Although the diagnosis of ALCL is often straightforward, the 42 submitted cases encompassed unusual clinical presentations, morphologic

Global incidence of childhood cancer by subtype in 2022: a population-based registry study.

BACKGROUND: Childhood cancers are an important cause of premature mortality and long-term disability worldwide, yet most global estimates stop at broad diagnostic groups. A clearer picture by subtype and its social determinants is needed to guide the World Health Organization (WHO) target of at least sixty percent survival for all children with cancer by 2030. METHODS: In this population-based registry study, we analysed incidence and mortality data for 185 countries in 2022 using the GLOBOCAN database, and redistributed unspecified tumours according to subtype proportions derived from 670 hi

May obesity increase the risk of lymphoma? Insights from genetic evidence.

BACKGROUND: Lymphoma poses a significant public health challenge with complex subtypes. While obesity and adipokines have been linked to lymphoma, causal relationships remain unclear. This study uses Mendelian randomization (MR) to systematically assess these associations. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Two-sample MR analyzed genetic data from genome-wide association studies to evaluate causal links between obesity, adipokines (adiponectin, leptin, and resistin), and lymphoma subtypes (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and other unspecif

Comparing Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Mortality Between Latin America and the United States From 2008 to 2019: The Need of Regional-Based Lymphoma Registries.

PURPOSE: Population-based registries are essential for evaluating disease patterns, but whether the existing surveillance systems are helpful in monitoring lymphoma mortality outcomes in Latin America is unknown. To explore the utility and identify gaps in existing registries, we compared Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) mortality in Latin American countries with that in the United States. METHODS: We conducted a population-based descriptive study using mortality data from the WHO for 16 Latin American countries and the National Center for Health Statistics for the United

Epidemiology and management of malignancies in patients with inborn errors of immunity-An ESID registry study of 19,959 patients.

BACKGROUND: Inborn errors of immunity (IEI), or primary immune disorders (PIDs), predispose individuals to infections, autoimmunity, inflammation, allergy, and malignancy. Malignancies are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with IEI/PIDs, with poorer outcomes compared with the general population. OBJECTIVE: We sought to determine the frequency and types of malignancies in patients with IEI/PIDs and to assess clinical management approaches across Europe. METHODS: Descriptive analyses were performed on malignancy data within each IEI category. In addition, a European Society

Central Nervous System Manifestations of Cutaneous Lymphomas.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCL) are an uncommon malignancy of the lymphocytes, primarily presenting with dermatologic lesions. Central nervous system(CNS) metastatic manifestations, are even rarer. This review focus mainly on three aspects namely early suspicion of CNS involvement, selection of cases for CNS chemo-prophylaxis and lastly, the rare occurrence from skin straight to brain without other organ involvement. RECENT FINDINGS: Primary extranodal large B-cell lymphomas are very heterogeneous. Recent molecular data have thrown some light on such divergent clinical be

AL amyloidosis manifesting as a vertebral amyloidoma secondary to an unrecognized plasmacytoma expressing cyclin D1 case report.

INTRODUCTION: Immunoglobin-related (AL) amyloidosis is the production of amyloidogenic immunoglobulin light chains from clonal plasma cells or, rarely, B-cell lymphomas with plasmacytic differentiation. Amyloid deposition causes progressive end organ destruction with profound morbidity. PRESENTATION OF CASE: We present a rare case of a lambda light chain AL amyloidoma localized to a thoracic vertebra of an 87-year-old woman who had a remote history of an unspecified non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma (NHL). B-cell lymphoma research in Malaysia - A narrative review.

Lymphomas are a diverse group of malignant proliferations that arise as discrete tissue masses. The most widely accepted taxonomy for lymphoma is the World Health Organization classification of tumours of haematopoietic and lymphoid tissues, the 5th edition of which was released in June 2022. Most (85% to 90%) lymphoid neoplasms are of B cell origin. Mature B-cell neoplasms are a heterogeneous group of malignancies with similar disease courses and treatment paradigms. This review focuses on the various mature B-cell lymphomas in Malaysia, including Hodgkin lymphoma. A literature search was per

Trends in Cancer Incidence and Mortality in US Adolescents and Young Adults, 2016-2021.

(1) Background: The incidence rate of early onset-cancer (<50) has increased since 1995. Among younger people, cancers in AYAs (aged 15-39 y) are often biologically distinct tumors from those treated in the pediatric and older adult population. The current study describes trends in the United States for the most recent years including the first year of the COVID-19 epidemic. We aimed to describe the recent incidence and mortality trends of cancers in AYAs (aged 15-39 y). (2) Methods: We used data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER 22) from 1 January 2016 to 31 December

Validity of Italian administrative healthcare data in describing the real-world utilization of infusive antineoplastic drugs: the study case of rituximab use in patients treated at the University Hospital of Siena for onco-haematological indications.

INTRODUCTION: Italian administrative healthcare databases are frequently used for studies on real-world drug utilization. However, there is currently a lack of evidence on the accuracy of administrative data in describing the use of infusive antineoplastics. In this study, we used rituximab as a case study to investigate the validity of the regional administrative healthcare database of Tuscany (RAD) in describing the utilization of infusive antineoplastics. METHODS: We identified patients aged 18 years or older who had received ≥1 rituximab administration between 2011 and 2014 in the onco-ha

THE ROLE OF RADIATION THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF PTCL-NOS.

UNLABELLED: Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative disorders, accounting for about 10 % of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas. The most common subtype is peripheral T-cell lymphoma, unclassified (PTCL-NOS), accounting for about 26 % of all PTCLs. PTCL-NOS is associated with less favorable overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) compared with aggressive B-cell lymphomas. The role of radiation therapy in the treatment of PTCL-NOS is still not definitively defined. The results of many studies show that the addition of radiation therapy to the
