Background/Objectives: Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTCL-NT), is a rare and extremely aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that most frequently involves the nasal cavity and upper aerodigestive tract. Primary isolated oral manifestation is exceptionally uncommon and may mimic odontogenic or infectious diseases, delaying diagnosis. We report a case of ENKTCL-NT presenting initially as a destructive oral lesion without sinonasal involvement at diagnosis. Methods: A 32-year-old man with progressive palatal ulceration underwent clinical and imaging assessment (panoramic radio

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is an aggressive and heterogeneous disease. It is a rare non-Hodgkin lymphoma observed primarily in Asian and south-American. countries. Most patients with ENKTCL present with early-stage disease. Herein we present a case of a male patient presented with chronic nasal symptoms, including bad smelling discharges. A midline necrotic lesion was detected on rhinoscopy with destruction of the nasal septum, and necrosis of the philtrum. The histopathological and flocytometry findings confirmed the diagnosis of Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, EBV posi

BACKGROUND: T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas are a heterogeneous group of mature lymphoid neoplasms that usually pursue an aggressive clinical course and involve both nodal and extranodal sites. These neoplasms have diverse clinical presentations, histopathologic patterns, immunophenotypes, genetic features, and prognoses.
SUMMARY: Accurate classification, as outlined in the 5th edition of the WHO Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours (WHO-HAEM5) and in the WHO Reporting System for Lymph Node, Spleen, and Thymus Cytopathology, requires integration of clinical information and the results of hi

Distinguishing T-cell from NK-cell neoplasms can occasionally be challenging, as neoplastic T cells can lose T-cell markers such as surface CD3 (sCD3) and CD5 while acquiring NK-cell markers such as CD16, CD56, and CD94. In this study, we present a series of 7 mature T-cell lymphoma/leukemia cases with NK-like immunophenotypes to clarify diagnostic approaches for lineage determination. The cohort included 3 cases of peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified, 2 cases of T-large granular lymphocytic leukemia, and 2 cases of hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma. In all cases, flow cytometry im

The prognosis of relapsed or refractory T-cell and NK-cell lymphoid proliferations and lymphomas (R/R T/NK-LPD/LYM) remains poor. Modified dendritic cell–cytokine-induced killer (DC–CIK) cells loaded with tumour stem cell (TSC) membrane microparticles (MMPs) can improve the targeted killing activity against tumours. However, the use of this treatment has not been reported for R/R T/NK-LPD/LYM. Herein, we report 3 cases. Case 1 involved an 8-year-old male who presented with bilateral cervical painless lymphadenopathy and a left elbow mass. Case 2 involved a 44-year-old man with recurrent nasal

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is an aggressive hematopoietic neoplasm of immature plasmacytoid dendritic cells. Before the cell of origin was elucidated, it was previously termed "CD4+/CD56+ hematodermic neoplasm," "agranular CD4+ natural killer (NK) cell leukemia," "blastic NK-cell lymphoma," and "blastic NK leukemia/lymphoma." While there is a high frequency of concurrent cutaneous and bone marrow involvement at presentation, some cases may present with disease localized to the skin. Since the most common site of involvement is the skin, the diagnosis is generally made

Gamma-delta (γδ) hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL) is a rare, aggressive malignancy that is exceptionally uncommon in young children. It often presents with nonspecific symptoms that delay diagnosis. We describe a previously healthy 26-month-old girl who developed daily fevers, weight loss, decreased appetite, and progressive lower-extremity weakness leading to loss of ambulation. Examination revealed marked hepatosplenomegaly without lymphadenopathy, and laboratory studies showed lymphocytic leukocytosis with evolving cytopenias. Bone marrow evaluation identified a clonal γδ T-cell popula

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a rapidly progressive and potentially fatal condition in which successful treatment depends on the prompt identification of the underlying cause. We report the case of a 66-year-old woman who presented with severe hepatitis, marked coagulopathy, hyperbilirubinemia, and bicytopenia, while common etiologies of ALF were excluded. Imaging studies and initial bone marrow diagnostics did not provide a conclusive explanation. Subsequent histopathological evaluation of liver and bone marrow biopsies ultimately revealed hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma, a rare and diagnostical

RATIONALE: Synchronous primary malignancies involving solid tumors and aggressive lymphomas, such as extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL-NT), are exceedingly rare and pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. To our knowledge, no previously reported case of synchronous rectal adenocarcinoma and ENKTL-NT has been identified in the available literature.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 64-year-old man presented with malaise, loss of appetite, toothache, gingival swelling, and a persistent facial sinus with purulent discharge.
DIAGNOSES: Colonoscopy and histopathological examinati

INTRODUCTION: Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL-NT), is a rare and aggressive lymphoma for which real-world data from resource-limited settings remain scarce. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of frontline multimodal treatment strategies for localized ENKTL-NT.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 62 patients with localized ENKTL-NT treated at the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital between May 2019 and June 2025. Patients received concurrent chemoradiotherapy followed by VIPD or VIDL, or sequential chemoradiotherapy with GELOX/PGEMOX. Treatment responses, s

CD30-positive large-cell proliferations arising in patients with mycosis fungoides can be diagnostically challenging, particularly when they show variable T-cell receptor expression or gamma/delta (γδ) phenotype. We present two cases of mycosis fungoides (MF) with CD30-positive large cell transformation (LCT)/progression exhibiting γδ T-cell phenotypic evolution. Case 1, a 50-year-old woman, initially presented with hyperpigmented patches and papulonodular lesions showing epidermotropic small-cell MF alongside dermal CD30-positive large cells with a γδ phenotype. Over ten years, she developed

BACKGROUND: ICOS (inducible T-cell co-stimulator) and ICOS ligand (ICOSL) are part of an important, complex pathway that can lead to both immune stimulation and suppression. ICOS and ICOSL have heterogeneous expression patterns between and within tumor types.
METHODS: This review provides an overview of ICOS and ICOSL, their mechanisms of action, expression in cancer and other diseases, and clinical trials exploring therapies targeting ICOS.
RESULTS: Because of the bidirectional immune impact of the ICOS/ICOSL signaling pathway, both ICOS agonists and antagonists are under development and ev

BACKGROUND: Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL), a rare and aggressive subtype of T-cell lymphoma, affects the skin in up to 50% of cases. Its protean clinical and histopathological cutaneous manifestations pose a challenge in diagnosis, particularly when skin involvement precedes lymph node biopsy confirmation.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 63-year-old male initially presented with progressive erythema and nodules, later developing vasculitis-like ulcers and generalized lymphadenopathy. The skin biopsy of erythema demonstrated mild perivascular lymphocytic infiltration around small blood vessel

BACKGROUND: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a well-known cause of infectious mononucleosisand it has also been linked to the development of various malignant tumors. EBV can be classified into two genotypes based on EBNA-2 and EBNA-3 polymorphisms, with further subclassification predominantly based on BNLF-1 and EBNA-1 variations. Currently, EBV subtyping has not been performed using EBER genes. Thus, this study aimed to determine EBV subtypes in various malignant tumors and to assess the potential of EBER polymorphisms for EBV classification.
METHODS: DNA was isolated from tissue samples of pati

Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) is a rare primary cutaneous cytotoxic T-cell lymphoma that may show marked clinical and histopathological overlap with lupus panniculitis. We report the case of a 22-year-old woman with a three-year history of slowly progressive depressed hyperpigmented lipoatrophic plaques involving the thighs, back, and left upper limb, associated with an erythematous alopecic scalp plaque. An initial thigh biopsy showed interface dermatitis, dermal mucin deposition, and lobular lymphocytic panniculitis with positive direct immunofluorescence, leading to
