NK/T-cell lymphoma with rash and peripheral neuropathy as the first manifestation: a case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTCL-NT), is a rare, aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and it usually presents as a destructive sinus mass that may attend epistaxis. However, ENKTCL-NT with the manifestation of peripheral neuropathy is pretty unusual. CASE PRESENTATION: A 17-year-old Chinese patient presented with peripheral neuropathy and positive auto-antibodies. However, she failed methylprednisolone pulse therapy and developed hemophagocytic syndrome. The diagnosis of CD30-positive primary cutaneous ENKTCL-NT was confirmed by pathological biopsy. Her dis

FDG PET/CT in a Case of Esophageal Extranodal NK/T-Cell Lymphoma, Nasal Type.

Lymphoma involving the esophagus is rare. We describe FDG PET/CT findings in a case of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type involving the larynx, hypopharynx, and cervical and upper thoracic esophagus. The esophageal tumor showed segmentally increased FDG uptake mimicking esophagitis. This case indicates that esophageal lymphoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of the hypermetabolic esophageal diseases.

Efficacy of a short sandwich protocol, methotrexate, gemcitabine, L-asparaginase and dexamethasone chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy, in localised newly diagnosed NK/T-cell lymphoma: A French retrospective study.

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type is a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma, historically associated with poor prognosis. We report here the results of a retrospective multi-centre study evaluating the efficacy of MGAD (methotrexate, gemcitabine, L-asparaginase and dexamethasone) regimen (two cycles) combined with 'sandwich' radiotherapy in 35 patients with localised newly diagnosed extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma. Thirty-two patients (91%) reached complete remission. With a long median follow-up of 59.6 months, progression-free and overall survival at 2 and 5 years were 71%, 80% and 53%

Characteristics of Extranodal NK/T-Cell Lymphoma, Nasal Type, Compared with Nasal Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma.

BACKGROUND: Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL), is an aggressive tumour with poor prognosis. Its early diagnosis may improve the prognosis of patients; however, it is often overlooked in many cases and misdiagnosed as an inflammatory sinus disease during its initial stage. Identifying the clinical characteristics of ENKL may aid otorhinolaryngologists in indicating cases early for a pathologic examination. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of ENKL compared with that of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), which is the most common nasal malignan

Newly diagnosed extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, at the injected left arm after BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccination.

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines were developed in response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Although the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine is effective, adverse effects have been reported. Here, we report a case of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL), of the left arm following BNT162b2 mRNA vaccination. A 73-year-old male presented with a lump in the left arm, which was the site where he received the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine 3 months prior. He was treated with topical corticosteroids and debridement, but the tumo

Nasal-Type Extranodal Natural Killer/T-Cell Lymphoma Recurrence at Penile Glans Masquerading Urinary Contamination on 18 F-FDG PET/CT.

A 69-year-old man with a history of extranodal NK/T-Cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL-NT) performed an interim 18 F-FDG PET/CT for response evaluation. It showed an intense focal uptake at his penile glans, which was suspected as urinary contamination initially. However, he complained with redness and swelling of his penis during further history inquiry. After careful observation, the diagnosis of ENKTL-NT recurrence at penile glans was highly suspected. It was confirmed by percutaneous biopsy of the penile glans finally.

Extranodal NK-/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type: what advances have been made in the last decade?

Extranodal NK-/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy with significant racial and geographic variations worldwide. In addition to the formerly "nasal-type" initial description, these lymphomas are predominantly extranodal in origin and typically cause vascular damage and tissue destruction, and although not fully understood, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has an important role in its pathogenesis. Initial assessment must include a hematopathology review of representative and viable tumor areas without necrosis for adequate immunohistochemistry studies, including EBV-enco

A case of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, diagnosed by scraping cytology of the maxillary gingiva.

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), nasal type, is often seen in the head and neck region, but there have been rare instances of this disease with initial presentation as a lesion in the oral mucosa. The patient, a woman in her seventh decade of life, presented with an ulcer in the maxillary gingiva, and scraping cytology and biopsy were performed. Cytological specimens showed solitary or small aggregating cells with marked atypia in a necrotic background. Tumor cells were detected that had various nuclear shapes and azure granules in the cytoplasm. Biopsy showed that the tumor cells had di

Primary central nervous system extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type with CD20 expression: Case report and review of the literature.

Primary central nervous system (PCNS) extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTCL), is an exceedingly rare tumor. To the best of our knowledge, only 27 cases and only one reported aberrant CD20 expression have been documented in the literature. Here we present a second case of PCNS ENKTCL with aberrant CD20 expression in a 43-year-old immunocompetent Chinese female. The patient presented with tremors, weakness in the right upper limb, and a slow reaction. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multiple brain lesions. A histological examination revealed a diffuse distribution of intermediate

The whole-blood Epstein-Barr virus DNA can serve as a valuable molecular marker for diagnosis and prognosis prediction of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

The clinical significance and prognostic role of whole-blood EBV-DNA in EBV-associated nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) have not been thoroughly investigated. This study aims to explore the diagnostic and prognostic value of EBV-DNA for NPC in a non-endemic region of China. We enrolled patients with chronic active EBV infection (CAEBV), nasopharyngitis (NA), extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTCL-NT), and NPC. Demographic and clinical data were collected and the diagnostic and prognostic values of EBV-DNA were analyzed. Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect EBV-encoded small ri

Extranodal NK/T-Cell Lymphoma, Nasal Type, Extranasal and Ulcerative Blister Variant, Case Report.

The extranodal natural killer (NK) T-cell lymphoma of nasal type is a form of lymphoma that falls within the WHO/EORTC 2018 classification of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas. It is characterized for being aggressive, infrequent, and destroying midline facial structures; however, it can also be in primary or secondary form at extranasal sites, such as the skin or the gastrointestinal tract, among others. We report the case of an 18-year-old patient with an extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma located in an extranasal site. The clinical presentation is characterized for being multifocal and with erythematou

In this case report, a 61-year-old male presented with odynophagia and ulceration in palatum durum after inhalating dust from machinery containing a weak acid. It was at first diagnosed as an acidic ulcer due to two biopsies verifying this. Because of progressing ulceration a third biopsy was taken - this time with the diagnosis extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type. This illustrates the diagnostic challenges of the illness, typically requiring multiple biopsies, and one should have this differential diagnosis in mind in case of progressing ulceration.

Primary extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma of stomach: A case report and review of literature.

Extranodal Natural killer/T (NK/T) cell lymphoma nasal type is an aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma and has a constant association with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. Approximately more than 75% cases are located in upper aero-digestive tract, of which stomach is a very rare site. Very few cases of gastric extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma have been reported in the literature. A 22-year-old male patient presented with complaints of abdominal pain and hematemesis. Endoscopy showed a large ulcer in the stomach. Partial gastrectomy done and histopathology showed transmural infiltration by intermed

We report a case of misdiagnosed extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, mimicking granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA). A 30-year-old male presented with chronic non-resolving right paranasal sinusitis for two years accompanied by multiple generalized cutaneous nodules, and subnephrotic-range proteinuria. Biopsies from skin lesions and paranasal sinuses demonstrated leukocytoclastic vasculitis and necrotizing granulomatous inflammation, respectively. Serum proteinase 3 (PR3)-antineutrophilic cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) was positive, suggesting the diagnosis of GPA based on the 2022 Ameri

Biology and genetics of extranodal mature T-cell and NKcell lymphomas and lymphoproliferative disorders.

The extranodal mature T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas and lymphoproliferative disorders represent a unique group of rare neoplasms with both overlapping and distinct clinicopathological, biological, and genomic features. Their predilection for specific sites, such as the gastrointestinal tract, aerodigestive tract, liver, spleen, and skin/soft tissues, underlies their classification. Recent genomic advances have furthered our understanding of the biology and pathogenesis of these diseases, which is critical for accurate diagnosis, prognostic assessment, and therapeutic decision-making. Here we re

The ineffectiveness of azole drugs in treating Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (VVC) and Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (RVVC) due to antifungal resistance of non-albicans Candida has led to the investigation of inorganic nanoparticles with biological activity. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are important in nanomedicine and have been used in various products and technologies. This study aimed to develop a vaginal cream and assess its in vitro antimicrobial activity against Candida parapsilosis strains, specifically focusing on the synergy between AgNPs and miconazole. AgNPs were synthesized using
