A 10-year-old male neutered Boxer presented with recurrence of a mast cell tumor at the right medial canthal area. Following excision including 2 cm margins, the medial one-half of the upper and lower eyelids and the medial canthus were reconstructed using an axial pattern flap based on the cutaneous branch of the superficial temporal artery. AIMS: To present a modified technique for the preparation of glabellar skin flaps to reconstruct medial canthal defects.
METHODS: Ten consecutively treated patients were included who had skin defects after resection of skin tumours like basal cell carcinomas in the medial canthal area of a medium vertical diameter of 2.5 cm. The defects were closed by preparation of a modified glabellar flap. The pedicle of the flap was guided through a skin tunnel prepared diagonally at the root of the nose. The pedicle was resected 4 weeks after the initial surgery.

The choice of reconstructive technique for eyelid defects after malignant tumors was based on tumor location and defect size after tumor excision. Treatments included direct closure for defects measuring less than 25%, Tenzel flap for defects measuring 25-50%, lid-sharing procedures for defects measuring more than 50%, skin grafts for tumors affecting the inner canthus advancement flap for outer canthus tumors, and orbital exenteration for malignant tumors demonstrating orbital invasion.

The complications of blepharoplasty are infrequent, most often minor and transient, and rarely major and permanent with functional or aesthetic consequences. Sigilmassasaurus brevicollis is an enigmatic theropod dinosaur from the early Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian) of Morocco, originally based on a few isolated cervical vertebrae. Ever since its original description, both its taxonomic validity and systematic affinities were contentious. Originally considered to represent its own family, Sigilmassasauridae, the genus has variously been suggested to represent a carcharodontosaurid, an ornithischian, and, more recently, a spinosaurid. Here we describe new remains referrable to this taxon and re-evaluate its taxonomic status and systematic affinities.

BACKGROUND: Incomplete Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is the cessation of MMS while the tumor margins are known to be still positive.
