Endocervical sampling is performed traditionally with an endocervical curette (ECC). The current study objective is to compare the histopathological performance of endocervical brush (ECB) and endocervical curette (ECC). A retrospective review was performed including patients included that underwent colposcopy with endocervical sampling using either method. A total of 127 samples were obtained with ECC and 98 with ECB. Histopathological diagnosis was obtained in 124 (97.6%) ECC samples and in 94 (95.9%) ECB samples (p = 0.46). OBJECTIVE: Endocervical mucus production is a key regulator of fertility throughout the menstrual cycle. With cycle-dependent variability in mucus quality and quantity, cervical mucus can either facilitate or block sperm ascension into the upper female reproductive tract. OBJECTIVE: A large percentage of uterine cancer deaths worldwide are not attributed to the cervix or corpus, but classified as uterus part 'unspecified'. We provided the trend for the proportion of uterine cancer deaths certified as 'unspecified' in selected countries.

BACKGROUND: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted pathogen both in men and women. Accumulating epidemiological evidence supports a strong association between HPV infection and cancer of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus, and penis. Currently, data on the HPV prevalence and genotyping is lacking in Northern Cyprus, a region in which HPV vaccination is not freely accessible via the national immunization program.
