INTRODUCTION: External fixators have a limited role in the management of tibial plateau fractures (TPF). They are typically used as an initial management strategy. The Joshi External Stabilisation System (JESS) is a Kirschner wire-based fixator and has been used in TPF where plating may not be feasible due to poor skin conditions or delayed due to other soft tissue complications. BACKGROUND: Primary submandibular gland carcinoma is rare and associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Prognostic factors and optimal management remain controversial because available data are limited and heterogeneous.
PURPOSE: We aim to synthesize evidence on prognostic factors associated with survival in subjects with primary submandibular gland carcinoma.
DATA SOURCES: PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched from inception to July 2025 using terms related to submandibular gland carcinoma, prognosis, and survival.

Sialolithiasis is a disease process involving the formation of conglomerates of calcifications in the ductal system or the parenchyma of the salivary gland. The Submandibular gland is more vulnerable to form sialoliths than the other major salivary glands due to its salivary composition and anatomic factors. The management of sialolithiasis is determined by the dimensions and position of the calculi. Here, we discuss a case of a twenty eight mm submandibular sialolith managed by an intraoral approach.

OBJECTIVES: Because prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) expression is universal in juvenile nasal angiofibroma (JNA), PSMA PET/CT is commonly used in the postoperative setting using the postoperative angiofibroma radionuclide imaging study protocol. We report a case of a 59-year-old woman who presented with swelling of the right cheek. CT Scan showed three calculi located anteromedial to the masseter, and well isolated from other major salivary glands. Calculi were surgically removed with standard intraoral incision and exploration.

BACKGROUND: Congenital aplasia of major salivary glands is a very rare entity, especially if it concerns an ipsilateral aplasia in a nonsyndromic patient.
KEY POINTS FROM THE CASE: The aim of this report is to present a case of an aplasia of the left submandibular gland, which was incidentally diagnosed during presurgical imaging for an ipsilateral sublingual ranula. Agenesis of the parotid gland is an extremely rare condition and may be partial or total, unilateral or bilateral, and may occur on its own or associated with other developmental abnormalities. We report a case of unilateral agenesis of the parotid gland without involvement of other major salivary glands together with a compensatory hypertrophy of the contralateral parotid gland.
