BACKGROUND: Mortality and morbidity of congenital tracheal stenosis (CTS) remain high. The aim of this study was to determine the factors predicting 12-month survival and 2-month successful extubation after tracheoplasty in patients with CTS.
METHODS: Retrospective chart reviews were conducted in patients with CTS undergoing tracheoplasty at a single institution between 1997 and 2014. INTRODUCTION: Chemoradiotherapy(CRT)is an effective treatment method for esophageal cancer. In early stages, it is a standard therapy combined with surgery. However, CRT achieves definitive complete response(CR)in only about 20% of advanced cancer with invasion into adjacent organs. Then, surgery is the only treatment for curative therapy. Hemangiomas are benign tumors most frequently seen in childhood and are mostly associated with cutaneous and mucosal surfaces. Tracheal capillary hemangiomas are extremely rare. The most common presenting symptom is hemoptysis, ranging from minor to major and chronic cough. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Chest CT findings reported as normal by a radiologist were collected retrospectively at 10 international centers. An experienced and independent thoracic radiologist reevaluated all CT scans for image quality and for normal findings.
