The Impact of the Danish National Smoking Ban From 2007 on the Incidence of Eight Smoking-related Diseases: A Nationwide Register-based Interrupted Time Series Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Previous research has documented the effect of comprehensive smoking bans on preventing various adverse health outcomes in the years post-ban. In 2007, Denmark implemented a national smoking ban that prohibited indoor smoking in workplaces and public settings, although only partial restrictions applied in specific premises such as small bars, one-person offices, and in psychiatric units. We tested the hypothesis that the implementation of the national smoking ban was associated with a decrease in incidence of smoking-related morbidity in the Danish population compared to the pre-ba

The burden and trend of diseases and their risk factors in Australia, 1990-2019: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019.

BACKGROUND: A comprehensive understanding of temporal trends in the disease burden in Australia is lacking, and these trends are required to inform health service planning and improve population health. We explored the burden and trends of diseases and their risk factors in Australia from 1990 to 2019 through a comprehensive analysis of the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019. METHODS: In this systematic analysis for GBD 2019, we estimated all-cause mortality using the standardised GBD methodology. Data sources included primarily vital registration systems with additional data from samp

Machine learning strengthened prediction of tracheal, bronchus, and lung cancer deaths due to air pollution.

This work pointed out the use of machine learning tools to predict the effect of CO, O3, CH4, and CO2 on TBL (tracheal, bronchus, and lung cancer) deaths from 1990 to 2019. In this study, data from 203 countries/locations were used. We used evaluation metrics like accuracy, area under curve (AUC), recall, precision, and Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC) to determine the prediction efficiency of the models. The models that yielded accuracy between 89 and 90 were selected in this study. The essential features in the prediction process were extracted, and it was found that CO influenced the

Cancer Burden Variations and Convergences in Globalization: A Comparative Study on the Tracheal, Bronchus, and Lung (TBL) and Liver Cancer Burdens Among WHO Regions from 1990 to 2019.

Lung cancer and liver cancer are the leading and third causes of cancer death, respectively. Both lung and liver cancer are with clear major risk factors. A thorough understanding of their burdens in the context of globalization, especially the convergences and variations among WHO regions, is useful in precision cancer prevention worldwide and understanding the changing epidemiological trends with the expanding globalization. The Global Burden of Disease (GBD) and WHO Global Health Observatory (GHO) database were analyzed to evaluate the burden metrics and risk factors of trachea, bronchus, a
