Under cultivation of rat peritoneal mesothelial cells in vitro in them there are appeared signs of the genomic instability, evidencing their transformation: increasing of the number of both binucleated cells with micronuclei and polynuclear cells and the increase of sizes and polymorphism. Asbestos greatly accelerates this process. Asbestos-induced carcinogenesis in vivo is accompanied in pleural mesothelium in the rats there also revealed with similar signs of genomic instability and cellular transformation.

Solitary fibrous tumour (SFT) is a rare soft tissue tumour which belongs to fibroblastic/myofibroblastic group of tumours. The most often it appears in pleura, also in pericardium, internal organs, peritoneum and extraperitoenal space. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of curcumin on adhesion formation in a rat cecum abrasion model.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty Wistar rats were randomized into three groups; the control group received saline, the curcumin group received 10 mg/kg of curcumin after cecal abrasion, and in the sham group the abdominal wall was closed without any abrasion to the cecum. On day 15, adhesions were assessed blindly using a standardized scale, and histopathological samples were taken and examined.

Desmoplastic small round cell tumors (DSRCTs) are rare, aggressive neoplasms that typically arise from abdominal and pelvic peritoneum in young adults. Other primary sites are uncommon, and an intracranial origin is exceptionally rare. Here the authors report the first case of a DSRCT presenting as a primary suprasellar tumor causing panhypopituitarism and severe bitemporal hemianopia in a young man. OBJECTIVE: This article reviews unusual distant metastatic patterns of infiltrating lobular carcinoma (ILC) of the breast.
CONCLUSION: ILC of the breast tends to spread to the gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, peritoneum, retroperitoneum, and leptomeninges in addition to common visceral sites such as the liver, bone, and lung. Knowledge of these unusual metastatic manifestations and disease patterns may aid in differentiating distant metastatic disease from secondary primary cancers and help plan appropriate therapy.

A 61-year-old male patient presented with intermittent gross hematuria. A right renal mass with infrahepatic vena caval tumor thrombus was found using magnetic resonance imaging. We undertook a novel combined retroperitoneal and transperitoneal pure laparoscopic nephrectomy with vena caval thrombectomy for this patient. The patient recovered well after surgery and discharged on day 6. A clear cell renal cell carcinoma with venous extension was confirmed by pathologic assay. To our knowledge, this is the first report of such a novel hybrid surgical strategy.
