IMPORTANCE: Enfortumab vedotin (EV) is an antibody-drug conjugate approved for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancer. Cutaneous adverse events (cAEs) are common during EV therapy, with prior studies suggesting an association between EV-related cAEs and improved survival; however, there are insufficient data to delineate the survival benefit of EV-induced cAEs from those associated with concurrent immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association of EV-induced cAEs with survival and to characterize the timing and morphologic mechanisms of E

Background: Autologous fat grafting (AFG) is increasingly explored beyond cosmetic applications, with interest in its regenerative potential for hand conditions such as cutaneous systemic sclerosis, thumb base osteoarthritis, Dupuytren contracture, burn scars, trauma and congenital hand deformities. This systematic review evaluates the therapeutic efficacy, techniques and outcomes associated with AFG across pathological hand conditions. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in July 2023 using PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Embase and Web of Science. Studies were included if they involve

BACKGROUND: Prenatal screening and folic acid supplementation have decreased spina bifida (SB) incidence, while advances in multidisciplinary care have increased life expectancy for those born with the condition. Historically, orthopedic outcomes research has focused largely on childhood, as earlier assumptions regarding limited survival into adulthood contributed to the exclusion of adults with SB from longitudinal studies. As a result, knowledge of orthopedic procedures performed on adults with SB may help to guide treatment in childhood and transition to adult care.
OBJECTIVE: To describe

Post-transplant mucormycosis is a rare but life-threatening complication with high mortality. We report a severe case of upper limb mucormycosis in a 58-year-old diabetic kidney transplant recipient. Despite standard immunosuppression, progressive skin lesions developed on the left forearm. Initial debridement failed to arrest progression, revealing extensive muscle necrosis and vascular thrombosis. Rhizopus oryzae was confirmed by histopathology and culture. Surgical management required mid-humeral amputation followed by shoulder disarticulation due to persistent fungal invasion. Antifungal t

BACKGROUND: Shoulder-hand syndrome (SHS) is a neurological disorder characterised by pain, loss of function, and trophic changes in the shoulder and hand of the affected limb. SHS shares a number of features with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Historically, several terms have been used interchangeably with SHS, obfuscating clinical presentation. This review aimed to characterise the presentation of SHS to provide a full clinical picture for clinicians and researchers. Furthermore, we aimed to examine whether symptoms differ between triggered and idiopathic SHS, as indicated in previous

BACKGROUND: Chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) is a complex post-transplant complication resulting in varying degrees of musculoskeletal (MSK) manifestations, including sclerosis-type skin conditions, fasciitis, and osteopenia, avascular necrosis affecting the shoulder, elbow and hands apart from other joints of the body. A large proportion of these can often miss out on the expertise of upper limb therapists.
STUDY OBJECTIVES: This paper aims to outline upper limb cGVHD manifestations to raise awareness among upper limb physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists, so that patients

BACKGROUND: Shoulder-hand syndrome (SHS) is a common upper limb complication following stroke. It is associated with poor functional recovery of the upper limb and reduced mobility. Both kinesiology tape (KT) and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) are considered effective interventions for treating pain and swelling associated with SHS. However, there is currently no research examining the limitations and safety profile of combining K-tape with MLD for SHS management. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of KT combined with MLD in patients with post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome.

BACKGROUND: Although the benefits and complications of tourniquet use are well-described, there has been minimal upper extremity research evaluating the timing of tourniquet release and how it affects patient outcomes. The objective of this study was to determine if tourniquet release prior to or after incision closure would affect clinical outcomes in a variety of upper extremity surgeries.
METHODS: Two hundred fourteen consecutive patients were randomized into 2 groups: skin incision closure without releasing the tourniquet versus skin closure following tourniquet release. Demographic, intr

Background/Objectives: Reconstruction of complex soft-tissue defects of the arm and elbow remains challenging because of exposed neurovascular structures, wide joint mobility, and the need to preserve function. The pedicled latissimus dorsi (LD) flap remains a valuable option, particularly when recipient vessels are compromised or functional restoration is required. Given the heterogeneity of these injuries, treatment must be individualized according to each patient's defect characteristics, functional demands, and rehabilitation goals, reflecting personalized medicine principles. This study e

BACKGROUND: There is a paucity of literature on the short-term clinical significance and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) after arthroscopic stabilization for anterior shoulder instability.
PURPOSE: (1) To define the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) and patient acceptable symptom state (PASS) thresholds for arthroscopic anterior shoulder stabilization at a minimum 2-year follow-up. (2) To investigate predictive factors, including preoperative, demographic, and intraoperative variables, for achieving MCID and PASS.
STUDY DESIGN: Case-control study.

OBJECTIVE: To quantitatively assess short-term, intervention-associated changes in tissue water distribution using tissue dielectric constant (TDC) and bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in healthy volunteers, and to explore correlations between the two modalities.
METHODS: Thirty-one healthy participants underwent a lymphedema-related intervention on their dominant arm, which included pumping and clearing of the terminus, manual lymphatic drainage, and low-level laser therapy. TDC and BIA were measured before and after the intervention. TDC-derived percentage of water content (PWC) was obtained at

OBJECTIVES: Asymmetrical, repetitive, high-impact, fast movements in volleyball can lead to muscle strength imbalances, reducing both strength and endurance due to inefficiencies in shoulder and spinal movement patterns. This study aimed to compare spinal alignment, mobility, trunk endurance, scapular dyskinesis, and upper-extremity function and power between volleyball players and asymptomatic individuals.
METHODS: This case-control study included 27 female elite volleyball players (median age: 23 (20-32) years) and 27 asymptomatic women matched for age and body mass index (median age: 24 (2

Microtia with aural atresia presents a dual challenge-restoration of external ear anatomy and rehabilitation of conductive hearing loss. Multiple staged procedures are often required, increasing patient burden. This study presents a single-stage surgical approach combining auricular reconstruction using Porous High-Density Polyethylene (pHDPE, Medpor®) with simultaneous implantation of a Vibrant Soundbridge (VSB) and intraoperative audiological evaluation. To assess the surgical feasibility, safety, and postoperative cosmetic and audiological outcomes of a combined one-stage Medpor reconstruct

Background The external ear, due to its prominent anatomical position and complex three-dimensional (3D) cartilaginous framework, is particularly susceptible to traumatic injuries. There has been a rising incidence of partial and total auricular deformities resulting from road traffic accidents, assaults, human and animal bites, burns, and accidental falls. These injuries are often aesthetically conspicuous and psychologically distressing. Reconstruction of post-traumatic auricular defects poses significant challenges because of the need to restore bilateral symmetry, the limited availability

INTRODUCTION: Reconstruction of subtotal full-thickness eyelid defects involving the canthi is challenging because successful repair must restore eyelid function, protect the ocular surface, and achieve acceptable periocular aesthetics. Although the paramedian forehead flap (PMFF) is well established for nasal reconstruction, its application in complex eyelid and periorbital defects is less commonly reported. The authors evaluated outcomes following PMFF reconstruction for subtotal full-thickness eyelid and periorbital defects.
METHODS: A retrospective review was performed of patients undergo

Quantitative assessments of changes in skin laxity before and after subbrow blepharoplasty have been performed; however, the effects of double eyelid clarification accompanying outward rotation of the eyelashes, have not been reported. This study examined the method for revealing natural double eyelids in subbrow blepharoplasty. We included 30 patients (60 eyelids) who underwent bilateral subbrow blepharoplasty. During surgery, we measured the distance from the edge of the eyelid to the lower incision below the eyebrow at the lateral canthus and medial cornea after removing excess skin to reve

Background: Periorbital aging involves complex structural and functional changes, including decreased eyelid opening and alterations in infraorbital contour. Conventional collagen biostimulators mainly focus on localized volume augmentation and dermal remodeling, with limited considerations for broader tissue interactions within the periorbital region. Objective: To evaluate structural and functional changes following treatment with a liquid-type polycaprolactone (PCL)-based collagen biostimulator. Methods: Three patients were analyzed. Clinical photographs were obtained at baseline, 1 month,

Malignant proliferating trichilemmal tumor (MPTT) is a rare cutaneous neoplasm that arises from the external root sheath of the hair follicles, typically affecting sun-exposed areas such as the scalp, neck, and forehead; it is also misdiagnosed due to its resemblance to other skin neoplasms. This report highlights a rare case of a MPTT with repeated local recurrences, despite undergoing wide surgical resections and adjuvant radiotherapy in two different occasions. We present a case of a 42-year-old African - American man diagnosed with a MPTT of the scalp in 2013, which was treated with surgic
