In field evaluation of impact on clinical signs of an inactivated autogenous vaccine against Pasteurella multocida in rabbits.

In Italy, the use of autogenous inactivated vaccines prepared with the bacterial strains isolated from affected animals is authorized by the Ministry of Health in farms where bacterial diseases occur frequently. The autogenous vaccine performed using Pasteurella multocida is frequently used in rabbit farms, but the feedback of its application is not available. Therefore, the aim of this study is to give information about the impact on the clinical signs of a bivalent autogenous vaccine in rabbits of a genetic centre. The vaccine was prepared using two P. multocida strains belonging to serogrou

Mapping Heterogeneous Population Structure of Mannheimia haemolytica Associated with Pneumonic Infection of Sheep in Southern State Karnataka, India.

Mannheimia haemolytica is recognized as principal pathogen associated with pneumonic pasteurellosis leading to huge economic losses to small ruminant farmers. Even though the disease causes huge economic losses, epidemiology of M. haemolytica is less studied, hindering the formulation of effective control strategies. Current study aimed to highlight molecular characterisation of M. haemolytica strains isolated from ovine pneumonic infection. M. haemolytica 27 isolates with two reference strains were characterised using capsular and virulence gene typing, multilocus sequence typing (MLST) and p

Characterisation of Pasteurella multocida Strains from Different Lesions in Rabbits.

Pasteurellosis, a disease caused by Pasteurella multocida, is responsible for economic losses in rabbit industrial farms due to rhinitis, conjunctivitis, pneumonia, metritis, mastitis, orchitis, subcutaneous abscesses, otitis, encephalitis, and septicaemic forms. Although the occurrence of the disease is conditioned by predisposing factors that affect the rabbit immune response, the strains of P. multocida involved in the infection may have a different pathogenic ability. Therefore, typing of strains spread among the rabbits is important to assess their pathogenic potential. The aim of this st

Diseases of domestic rabbits by purpose; a retrospective study of 2,583 cases received at 4 diagnostic laboratories in California, USA, 2013-2022.

Domestic rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) are commonly kept as pets or bred for laboratory investigation, meat, fur production, or a combination of these purposes. We conducted a retrospective study to assess the prevalence of diseases in domestic rabbits according to purpose. We retrieved results of autopsies, biopsies, and cytologies from 2,583 cases received at 4 diagnostic laboratories in California from 2013-2022. Rabbits were classified as pets (2,241; 86.8%), laboratory animals (92; 3.6%), meat-production animals (60; 2.3%), or multipurpose animals (190; 7.4%). A final diagnosis was reac

Development and application of a WebGIS-based prediction system for multi-criteria decision analysis of porcine pasteurellosis.

Porcine pasteurellosis is an infectious disease caused by Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida), which seriously endangers the healthy development of pig breeding industry. Early detection of disease transmission in animals is a crucial early warning for humans. Therefore, predicting risk areas for disease is essential for public health authorities to adopt preventive measures and control strategies against diseases. In this study, we developed a predictive model based on multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) and assessed risk areas for porcine pasteurellosis in the Chinese mainland. By using

Development of a MALDI-TOF MS model for differentiating haemorrhagic septicaemia-causing strains of Pasteurella multocida from other capsular groups.

Pasteurella multocida capsular types A, D, and F cause disease in many animal hosts, including bovine respiratory disease in cattle, which is one of the most globally significant animal diseases. Additionally, P. multocida capsular types B and E cause haemorrhagic septicaemia, a devastating disease primarily of cattle, water buffalo, and bison that develops rapidly with high mortality. Haemorrhagic septicaemia mostly occurs in developing countries and has potential to emerge elsewhere in the world. The diagnosis of haemorrhagic septicaemia currently requires recognition of compatible gross or

The standardization and efficacy of fermented Crescentia cujete (L.) in combination with enrofloxacin against artificially induced pneumonic pasteurellosis in rat models.

BACKGROUND: Pasteurella multocida is an opportunistic bacterium that causes pneumonic pasteurellosis (PP). The common treatment against PP is using antibiotics in conjunction with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This combination presents various complications, i.e., immune-depression. Hence, the alternative therapy to replace the effects of NSAIDs needs to be clarified. One of them is using fermented calabash [Crescentia cujete (L.)] (FCC). AIM: This study aimed to elucidate the efficacy of FCC in combination with enrofloxacin against artificially induced PP in rat models. MET

"Unusual Presentation of Epitheloid Dermatofibroma- Rare Case Report".

Soil contamination with toxic heavy metals [such as aluminum (Al)] is becoming a serious global problem due to the rapid development of the social economy. Although plant growth-promoting rhizo-bacteria (PGPR) are the major protectants to alleviate metal toxicity, the study of these bacteria to ameliorate the toxic effects of Al is limited. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the combined effects of different levels of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (5 ppm and 10 ppm) of accession number of MT123456 on plant growth and biomass, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange attribute

Combinations but Not a Single PlpE Epitope Induces Host Protective Immunity against Pasteurella multocida.

Pasteurella multocida is the causative agent of a wide range of diseases (pasteurellosis) and a zoonotic pathogen in humans. Recombinant subunit vaccines are hot spots in recent pasteurellosis vaccine development. A chimeric vaccine is also constructed for rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) protective antigen VP60 chimeric with fragments of Pasteurella multocida protective antigen PlpE. The protective efficacy of the chimeric vaccine against P. multocida is not as high as that of PlpE, and the reason is not well known. In this study, we analyzed the linear B-cell epitopes of PlpE and then

Comparative protection of small ruminants against Mannheimia haemolytica infection by inactivated bacterin and toxoid vaccines.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Mannheimia haemolytica causes respiratory infection and mortality in sheep and goats, similar to the effects in cattle, which causes major economic damage. Regular vaccinations alongside good management practices remain the most efficient tools for controlling this disease. Indeed, vaccines against pasteurellosis are available, but results on their efficacy have varied. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of three vaccines against mannheimiosis in small ruminants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We evaluated three vaccines developed from a local field isolate based
