INTRODUCTION: Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) injury is a risk specific to the direct anterior approach (DAA) for total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, prevention strategies have not been established. This study aimed to identify the predisposing factors determining LFCN injury during THA via a DAA.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to describe the epidemiology of melanoma among Hispanics using data that cover nearly 100 % of the US population.
METHODS: The study used population-based cancer incidence data from the National Program of Cancer Registries and the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program to examine melanoma incidence rates and trends among Hispanics by sex, age, race, histology, anatomic location, stage, and tumor thickness.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the correlation between children and adolescents' body shape parameters and parent's dissatisfaction on it.
METHODS: Stratified cluster sampling method was used to select students and their parents, and height, weight, waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), skinfold thichness of the students were measured. Body image from parents was studied through the 'Ma body figural shape'. Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of foreign bodies have been used for a number of years for a variety of reasons, including medical and cosmetic purposes. The author describes a case of chronic wound complications secondary to intramuscular gold injections for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The lesions were completely excised, the defect first treated with negative-pressure wound therapy, and, ultimately, split-thickness skin grafting with excellent functional result.

PURPOSE: The SonixGPS™ is a novel needle tracking system that has recently been approved in Canada for ultrasound-guided needle interventions. It allows optimization of needle-beam alignment by providing a real-time display of current and predicted needle tip position. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of brimless compared with ischial ramus containment (IRC) prosthetic sockets when using vacuum-assisted suspension (VAS) on persons with a unilateral transfemoral amputation (TFA). A randomized crossover design with a 2 d accommodation was used. People with unilateral TFA (n = 9 analyzed) were enrolled. Interventions were IRC VAS and brimless VAS sockets. Main outcome measures included coronal hip angle and vertical and lateral socket movement as measured by X-ray, skin pressure measured by Tekscan, and preference measured subjectively.
