UNLABELLED: Although the number of nursing homes is increasing in Australia, few studies have investigated the dermatologic condition of their patients. To address this issue, we conducted one of the first skin disease investigations of nursing home residents in Queensland, Australia.
METHODS: Our predominant data source was the attending physicians' medical reports, which are updated monthly following their physical examination of each patient. Specialist podiatrists' monthly progress notes were also used as were daily nursing reports.

We report an unusual case of a cutaneous T cell lymphoma with the clinical picture of leonine facies as the only skin symptom appearing during the first years of the disease. Nurse prescribing for a small range of products has been introduced in primary care, but not in hospitals, in the U.K. We have evaluated the benefits, costs, practicality and patient satisfaction with the formal introduction of dermatology nurse prescribing in the out-patient treatment facility of a district general hospital dermatology department with a wide geographical catchment area. Over a 6-month period, 91 items were prescribed to 47 patients on 72 occasions (items/patient: range 1-8, mean 2, median 1).
