The structure-function relationships of dystrophin, a protein which is absent or defective in patients with Duchenne or Becker muscular dystrophies, and utrophin can only be compared if specific antibodies are produced. Previously it has been shown that vasopressin (VP) and oxytocin are converted by aminopeptidase activity in brain membranes into fragments with potent CNS activities. This report concerns the properties of this enzyme activity, addressed as VP-converting aminopeptidase (VP-AP) activity, in membranes of the rat brain. Endovaginal ultrasound (US) imaging and color Doppler flow imaging techniques were used to evaluate the uterus and its contents and to establish characteristics of a normal post-abortion appearance in 19 women who underwent elective first-trimester abortions. We evaluated the prognostic factors in 52 cases of resected early lung cancer: hilar early lung cancers 9 cases and peripheral early lung cancers 43 cases. All hilar lesions were squamous cell carcinoma, and peripheral lesions were adenocarcinoma (31 cases), squamous cell carcinoma (10 cases), large cell carcinoma (2 cases) and carcinoid (1 case). To improve the unfavorable cervix we instituted a policy of cervical ripening with "chips" of prostaglandin E2 suppositories.
