We have isolated a portion of the uridine diphosphate N-acetyl-D-glucosamine:dolichol phosphate N-acetyl-glucosamine-1-phosphate transferase gene (GTR2) from the genome of a tunicamycin-resistant clonal Chinese hamster ovary cell line, 3E11. The genomic fragment was selected by its hybridization to the yeast ALG-7 gene at low stringency. A 2.46-kilobase cDNA was isolated from a library prepared from 3E11 mRNA and probed with GTR2. We report two cases of post partum right ovarian vein thrombophlebitis: The aspect of the C.T. is presented, specifying the anatomic relations of the right ovarian vein. The C.T. progression under treatment is illustrated in one case by the appearance of a vena cava thrombosis and in another by a return to normal. The possibility of other examinations is discussed. Correct knowledge of these C.T. findings should allow a diagnosis and a treatment without invasive procedures.

Endometrial carcinoma includes several specific subtypes which have differing prognostic implications. The two most common subtypes are adenocarcinoma, not otherwise specified (NOS), and adenoacanthoma. A method for the selective killing of methotrexate (MTX)-resistant cells has been developed. The selection is based on the incorporation of tritiated deoxyuridine into the DNA of MTX-resistant cells but not normal MTX-sensitive cells in the presence of the drug. A monosubstituted fluorescein derivative of ovine prolactin has been prepared by the reaction of fluorescein isothiocyanate with the hormone at pH 8.0. Reaction under the specified conditions results in a derivative incorporating one fluorescein moiety per molecule of prolactin as judged by coordinated UV spectroscopy and amino acid analysis. Single-stranded reovirus RNA, synthesized in vitro by reovirus cores, functioned as messenger RNA in cell-free extracts prepared from several mammalian cells: Krebs II mouse ascites cells, mouse L cells, Chinese hamster ovary cells, HeLa cells, and rabbit reticulocytes. As shown by acrylamide gel electrophoresis, all eight polypeptides known to be specified by reovirus were synthesized in the reticulocyte system. In the other extracts, from 5 to 7 complete virus proteins were made.
