Genital ducts of three male Raja eglanteria were fixed and embedded in epoxy and methacrylate resin. We report herein a 39-year-old man with a left scrotal swelling. The clinical and ultrasonographic appearances were suggestive of epididymal cyst. Histopathology of the excised lesion was shown to be lymphangioma of the epididymis. The differential diagnoses of a swelling in the scrotum of a young man include both benign and malignant conditions. Lymphangioma of the epididymis is, however, a rare and unusual cause.

It is widely accepted that temperature regulates gene expression and function in the epididymis. However, the significance of reduced temperature of the scrotum in cell survival had not often been examined. Our hypothesis was that the experimental increase of the temperature could induce apoptosis. Using a surgical method that consists of surgically reflecting the cauda epididymidis in the abdomen, we have been able to show that this is the case. OBJECTIVES: In our work we show our experience about three cases of epididymal adenomatoid tumor we observed in four years. This study was designed to explore the distribution of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) in various organs through examination of surgical specimens. Liposarcoma of the spermatic cord is rare and is usually discovered during hernia repair operation. We report a 71-year-old patient with spermatic cord liposarcoma. The patient presented with a painless mass in the left scrotum measuring up to 25 cm. The mass had gradually been enlarging during the last 6 months. The patient was a boy two years and six months old. He was brought to our University Hospital with the chief complaint of scrotal mass for two years. On palpation, the mass was discriminated from the testis, epididymis and spermatic cord. The mass was followed by ultrasonography and we found two masses at the age of two years and six months. The tumors were surgically resected and they were 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm, 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.5 cm in size, respectively. Histopathological examination revealed venous and capillary hemangioma. We discuss this case, and review the literature.

A 33-year-old man visited our hospital with complaint of painless left intrascrotal mass. A hard and rough induration in contact with the left testis was palpable. Anastomoses between three main vessels of the testes (testicular, cremasteric, and efferent duct arteries) at the level of the inguinal and scrotal parts of the spermatic cord are extremely rare. The role of these anastomoses in the maintenance of collateral circulation is negligible. A complex anatomical formation located near epididymis-efferent duct connection, where the three vessels are anastomosed (intersystemic junction of testicular arteries), is highly prevalent. Five testicular appendages are formed during development of the male genito-urinary tract, which are the remnants of the degenerating mesonephric and paramesonephric ducts. The testicular and epididymal appendages, found at the upper pole of the testis and at the head of the epididymis respectively, are the most common and have a range of appearances on ultrasound. These appendages have the ability to undergo torsion, an important differential diagnosis in the child who presents with an acute scrotum. A 70-year-old male was admitted to our hospital with the chief complaint of a left intrascrotal mass. A painless, solid and elastic-hard mass was palpable in the left scrotum. The testis, epididymis and spermatic cord could not be palpated separately from the mass. Tumor resection was performed. The tumor was 13 x 7.5 x 3.0 cm in size and 285 g in weight. Histological diagnosis was schwannoma. To our knowledge, the case was considered as the sixth reported in Japan.

Findings of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in a case of testicular lymphoma are presented. The tumor was lower intensity than the normal testis on T2-weighted images. Coronal images clearly showed the tumor extending to the spermatic cord. Compared with seminoma, lymphoma more often invades the epididymis and spermatic cord. MRI is a useful method for differentiating between testicular lymphoma and seminoma because it clearly shows tumor extension to the epididymis and spermatic cord.

Leptin, adiponectin, and resistin are key hormones produced by adipose tissue. In the present study, we have examined the effects of acute cold exposure (18 h at 6 degrees C) on the expression of the genes encoding these hormones in both brown and white fat of rats.
