Crossed testicular ectopia is a rare form of urogenital anomalies in which both testes are migrated and descend through a single inguinal canal, one or both testes may be ectopic in the abdomen, the inguinal region or descent to the hemi-scrotum with empty contralateral hemi-scrotum. Ectopic scrotum is a type of congenital scrotal anomaly, most cases can be diagnosed in infancy. Various surgical management strategies of ectopic scrotum has been reported in the literature, but none has been proven to be superior. We report a case of suprainguinal ectopic scrotum in a 1-year-old boy with an abnormal sac of scrotal skin in the suprainguinal region since birth. We performed a one-stage scrotoplasty and testicular repositioning, achieving a satisfactory outcome.

BACKGROUND: Undescended testes (UDTs) are common in male infants. Untreated UDT poses risks such as infertility (IF), testicular cancer (TC), and testicular torsion (TT). Retractile testes (RTs) sporadically ascend from the scrotum. UDT requires early surgical correction, whereas RT requires only periodic follow-up. Soft tissue sarcomas are a rare form of cancer that around 1000 people are diagnosed with every year in the Nordic countries. In this case report, we describe a patient presenting with scrotal swelling, which was later diagnosed as liposarcoma. The tumour grew in the scrotum, through the inguinal canal, retroperitoneal and in close relation to the left kidney. The tumour was removed with radical surgery, and histology showed a dedifferentiated liposarcoma with clean margins. This case report shows the growth potential of liposarcomas and contributes to knowledge about a rare form of cancer.
