The evidence is compelling that the deep layers of the SC are involved in the translation of sensory signals into motor commands for the control of saccadic eye movements. The deep layers receive inputs from brain areas involved in the analysis of stimuli (visual, auditory and somatosensory) used to guide orienting movements. Morbidity pattern of children below three years attending a rural health centre was studied prospectively for one year. All children were first examined by a doctor and the diagnoses made were compiled and analysed. The common morbidity conditions found were pyoderma (23.65%), respiratory infection (21.18%), diarrhea (20.05%), unspecified fever (11.75%), ear infection (6.58%) and eye infection (5.46%). The maximum episodes of morbidity were recorded in summer season (39.22%) followed by rainy (31.36%) and winter season (30.16%).

The purpose of the present investigation was to study the nature and frequency of adverse reactions to materials and procedures among orthodontists and their patients. A questionnaire about this topic was mailed to practicing members of the Norwegian Orthodontic Society, of which 137 (about 75%) responded together with 127 chairside assistants. Detection and resolution thresholds for two 50 ms square-wave gratings (1.5 and 6.7 cps) were determined as a function of background luminance. Results indicated differential cone and rod involvement in resolution of the two targets at low background levels.
