Amiodarone-induced thyrotoxicosis (AIT) is a potentially life-threatening complication of amiodarone therapy, particularly hazardous in patients with underlying structural heart disease. We report the case of a man in his mid-60s with severe cardiomyopathy and recurrent ventricular tachycardia who developed refractory thyrotoxicosis following amiodarone exposure. We present observations of the ionospheric response to the severe geomagnetic storm of 19-21 January 2026, obtained using a Digisonde DPS-4D and GPS-based vertical Total Electron Content (TEC) measurements over Almaty, Kazakhstan. Disasters often lead to increased generator use, resulting in carbon monoxide poisonings (COP) and burn injuries that can overwhelm regional burn centers.
