AA in Brain-Memory, Dementia, Depression, Anxiety, Alzheimer's Disease, Affective and Psychiatric Disorders, and Coronary Heart Disease (CHD).

The human brain is rich in AA and DHA, which are crucial for normal brain growth and development and memory. They form a major structural component of neurons of the cerebral cortex and photoreceptor cells in the retina. AA and DHA support synaptic plasticity and contribute to efficient neurotransmission. Adequate amounts of AA and DHA support neuronal growth and the formation of new synapses and thus are crucial for memory and cognitive function.Depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and other neurological diseases occur more frequently in those with coronary heart disease (CHD) and vice versa.

Prediction of Six-Month Glycemic Status in Type 2 Diabetes: Development and Internal Validation of a Multivariable Model.

Background: Baseline HbA1c is expected to dominate prediction of subsequent HbA1c status; therefore, the clinically relevant question is whether additional routinely available variables provide reproducible incremental value. Methods: This retrospective longitudinal study used 809 records from adults with type 2 diabetes receiving routine outpatient care. Six-month HbA1c was available for 808 participants. The primary outcome was six-month glycemic status (HbA1c < 7.0%). An HbA1c-only benchmark and three fixed blockwise logistic models were compared in the same complete-case cohort (n = 806).

High-fiber diet altered gut microbiota, improved glycemic control, and reduced body weight in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Type 2 diabetes and obesity commonly coexist, making glycemia and body weight both central treatment goals. Few trials have directly compared a high-fiber dietary intervention with metformin. The factors associated with individual responses to high-fiber diet also remain unclear. In this single-center, open-label, head-to-head clinical trial, 48 adults with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and overweight or obesity were randomized to a high-fiber dietary intervention without glucose-lowering medication (n = 36) or metformin (n = 12) monotherapy for 84 days; 46 completed the trial. Association between Perioperative Blood Glucose Levels and Wound Complications in Diabetic Patients Undergoing Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

INTRODUCTION: Adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgery is highly invasive and carries a substantial risk of postoperative wound complications, particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Perioperative hyperglycemia is a known risk factor for surgical-site infection, but glucose thresholds specific to patients with diabetes and ASD remain unclear. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 437 adults who underwent ASD correction between 2010 and 2020, of whom 50 (11.4%) had type 2 DM. Capillary blood glucose was measured at standardized intervals from the day of surgery through postoper

Peptide profiling of casein peptide reveals its anti-diabetic effects via DPP-IV inhibition and IRS1/PI3K/AKT signaling.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a growing global health burden, increasing demand for safe food-derived strategies for glycemic control. Casein-derived peptides have potential metabolic benefits, but their antidiabetic mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, casein peptide (CNP), enriched in low-molecular-weight peptides (<3 kDa), was investigated as the principal bioactive intervention for T2DM regulation. LC-MS/MS identified 880 peptides; among the 50 most abundant, all were predicted to inhibit DPP-IV, 26 to inhibit α-glucosidase, and one to inhibit α-amylase. CNP inhibited DPP-IV in v

Association between atherogenic index of plasma at 11-20 weeks of gestation and gestational diabetes risk: A prospective cohort study in China.

BACKGROUND: Recent studies have linked insulin resistance and the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus to the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP). This integrated lipid marker reflects cardiovascular risk and atherogenic dyslipidemia. However, its relationship with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is not completely understood. This study aimed to evaluate the association between AIP measured at 11-20 weeks of gestation and the subsequent risk of GDM and to identify the optimal AIP threshold for GDM prediction. METHODS: A total of 2068 women with singleton pregnancies were included in this prosp

Psychosocial Factors Associated with Diabetes Distress Among Adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: The Roles of Perceived Social Support and Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy in an Indonesian Outpatient Sample.

PURPOSE: Diabetes distress represents a diabetes-specific emotional burden associated with the challenges of long-term diabetes management. Psychosocial factors, including perceived social support and diabetes management self-efficacy, may influence how individuals experience and adapt to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the relationships among these factors remain insufficiently characterized when diabetes distress is considered the primary outcome. This study aimed to examine the associations among perceived social support, diabetes management self-efficacy, and diabetes distress am

Adherence to the planetary health diet index and risk of glycemic progression or regression in prediabetic individuals: a longitudinal study.

BACKGROUND: Whether adherence to the Planetary Health Diet Index (PHDI)-a dietary pattern jointly promoting human and environmental health-influences glycemic trajectories among individuals with prediabetes remains unknown. This study examined associations between PHDI adherence and odds of regression to normoglycemia and progression to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in prediabetic adults. METHODS: We conducted a prospective cohort analysis among 4,143 prediabetic adults (age range 19-70 years, 46.2% men, mean age 43.3 ± 10.1 years) enrolled in the Tehran MMRT study between 2017 and 2018 and
