STUDY OBJECTIVES: Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), influenced by environmental and social-behavioral factors, is reported by a subset of patients with sleep apnea-a group that may be at elevated cardiovascular risk. However, it is unclear whether sleep apnea with and without EDS have distinct genetic underpinnings. In this study, we perform gene-by-EDS interaction analyses for apnea hypopnea index, a diagnostic marker of sleep apnea severity, to understand EDS's influence on its underlying genetic risk.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a severe and chronic psychiatric condition. However, whether PTSD influences tumor immunity remains poorly understood. BACKGROUND: Fulminant papilledema is a neuro-ophthalmologic emergency that can lead to permanent vision loss as a result of optic neuropathy. Despite appropriate treatment of intracranial hypertension and improvement of papilledema, some patients continue to experience worsening vision. In some cases, comorbid micronutrient deficiencies, which are an additional cause of optic neuropathy, may contribute to this decline. This case series highlights patients with papilledema whose vision worsened despite improvement in papilledema and who were found to have comorbid nutritional deficiencies.

Ultrasonication-mediated multi-micronutrient fortification of polished rice was evaluated as a rapid and efficient strategy to enhance micronutrient loading and bioaccessibility.
