Plant-wearable fluorescent hydrogel patch based on PDA-PEI copolymer dots for on-site visual detection of glyphosate.

BACKGROUND: Glyphosate (GLY) residues are difficult to remove from agricultural products and pose potential risks to food safety, making their sensitive detection highly desirable. In this study, a Cu2+-mediated ratiometric fluorescence sensing platform was constructed for the sensitive detection of GLY by physically mixing polydopamine-polyethyleneimine copolymer dots (PDA-PEI CPDs) with terephthalic acid (PTA) based on a competitive coordination strategy. RESULTS: Cu2+ coordinated with the amino groups on the surface of CPDs and the carboxyl groups of PTA to form a CPDs-PTA-Cu2+ complex. Th

Developing national meta-accreditation standards for medical education accreditation bodies in Iran: a mixed-methods standards development and consensus study.

Ensuring the quality and credibility of medical education systems increasingly depends on robust accreditation mechanisms, yet the performance of accreditation bodies themselves often remains insufficiently evaluated. Addressing this gap, this study developed and validated the first national meta-accreditation standards for Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Using a rigorous mixed-methods design, the study integrated insights from semi-structured interviews with 13 national experts, a comparative review of six international recognition systems, expert panel consensus, and a natio

Genomic architecture of non-nominal offspring risk in a simulated composite cattle breed.

BACKGROUND: Composite cattle breeds are designed to combine complementary attributes from different founder breeds while retaining part of the heterosis generated by crossbreeding. Brangus cattle are nominally defined as 5/8 Angus and 3/8 Brahman, but the same global breed composition can be produced by different genomic architectures. This distinction may be important because animals with the same Brahman ancestry proportion may differ in ancestry heterozygosity, homozygous ancestry composition and segregation behaviour when used as parents. The objective of this study was to use controlled s

A systematic review of gender differences in the relationship between problematic smartphone use and depression.

BACKGROUND: Problematic smartphone use (PSU) has been increasingly linked to depression, but evidence on whether this association differs by gender remains inconsistent. This review synthesizes the existing evidence on gender differences in the PSU-depression association. METHODS: Four academic databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest) and one academic search engine (Google Scholar) were searched, with the original search conducted through September 2024 and an updated search completed in May 2026. The review was prospectively registered on the Open Science Framework and followed t

Exact transport theory of dendritic competition and arrest.

We solve exactly the transient two-dimensional advection diffusion problem generated by one and two semi-infinite internal Dirichlet lines, representing slender dendrites advancing into a supersaturated liquid while fixing the solute concentration on their surfaces. For a single dendrite, the mixed boundary value problem is reduced to a Wiener-Hopf equation, factorized explicitly, and inverted to the time domain by the Cagniard-de Hoop method, yielding the single-layer density in closed form in terms of the complex error function. For two parallel dendrites separated by a lateral distance h, t

Semidefinite programming for quantum channel learning.

The problem of reconstructing a quantum channel from a sample of classical data is considered. When the total fidelity can be represented as a ratio of two quadratic forms (e.g., in the case of mapping a mixed state to a pure state, projective operators, unitary learning, and others), semidefinite programming (sdp) can be applied to solve the fidelity optimization problem with respect to the Choi matrix. A remarkable feature of sdp is that the optimization is convex, which allows the problem to be efficiently solved by a variety of numerical algorithms. We have tested several commercially avai

Pattern formation and stick-slip dynamics in binary particle assemblies with rotating drives.

We numerically examine a binary system of particles with repulsive interactions, where one species is driven by a rotating drive and the other is subjected either to a constant drive in a fixed direction or to a rotating drive that is out of phase with the first species. As a function of rotation frequency, we find a variety of order-disorder transitions and pattern-forming states, including density-modulated stripes, partially jammed states, phase-separated fluids, and mixed fluids. When one species has a constant drive and the drive on the other species is rotated at low frequencies, the sys

Sticky eigenstates in systems with sharply divided phase space.

We investigate mixed eigenstates in systems with sharply divided phase space, using different piecewise-linear maps whose regular-chaotic boundaries are formed by marginally unstable periodic orbits (MUPOs) or by quasiperiodic orbits. With the overlap index and the entropy localization length, we classify mixed eigenstates and show that the contribution from dynamical tunneling scales as ∼ℏexp(-b/ℏ), with b>0 associated with the relative size of the regular region. The dominant fraction of states that remain sticky to the boundaries, referred to as sticky eigenstates, scales approximately as ℏ

Effects of nonideal conditions on resonantly enhanced betatron radiation in a plasma undulator.

Laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) provides a compact platform for generating bright, ultrashort, and tunable x-ray betatron radiation. When the betatron oscillation wavelength matches the laser centroid oscillation period in a preformed plasma channel, resonance occurs, leading to a rapid amplification of the electron betatron oscillation amplitude and significantly increasing the photon energy and yield of the sources. However, nonideal conditions from laser-plasma interactions may drive electrons out of resonance rapidly. In this work we use particle-in-cell simulations and theoretical ana

Manifold dimension identification for the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation via a spectral convolutional autoencoder.

We present a spectral convolutional autoencoder framework to infer an integer, observation-conditioned estimate for the inertial-manifold dimension in the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation. Training on trajectory segments of temporal horizon τ, we analyze reconstruction-error scaling with latent dimension d through a local log-slope diagnostic γ(d,τ) and identify a robust horizon-induced change-point: once τ exceeds a mixing scale, the scaling gain localizes at a unique integer d^{*}(L) and remains stable for larger horizons. Across L={22,44,58,66,88,96}, the extracted d^{*} is extensive and is we

Exact interpolation between Fick and Cattaneo diffusion in relativistic kinetic theory.

We construct a family of exactly solvable relativistic kinetic theories in 1+1 dimensions whose hydrodynamic sector continuously interpolates between Fick's and Cattaneo's laws of diffusion. The interpolation is controlled by a single parameter a∈[0,1], which tunes the microscopic scattering dynamics from infinitely soft but infinitely frequent scatterings (a=0), reproducing standard diffusion, to maximally hard but finite-rate scatterings (a=1), yielding hyperbolic Cattaneo-type transport. For intermediate values of a, the dynamics combines frequent weak scatterings with rare strong randomizi

Evolving ergodic flows in confined geometry.

A state-based ergodic approach is introduced using a descriptor constructed from instantaneous, spatially resolved measurements to quantify the spatiotemporal evolution of system states in far-from-equilibrium systems. This method is demonstrated for the mixing process in confined water-glycerol flows driven across three milli-scale geometries, by combining experiments with lattice Boltzmann simulations that uniquely incorporate colloids as passive flow obstacles. This generalizable framework distinguishes nonequilibrium pathways by tracking information about accessed system states.

Flavonoid Enantiomers and Benzofurans With α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activity From the Leaves of Morus alba.

Fourteen flavonoids (1-12, 19, and 20) and six 2-arylbenzofurans (13-18), consisting of 10 chiral and 10 achiral compounds, were isolated and identified from the leaves of the famous medicinal plant Morus alba. Nine flavonoids (1-9) of the 10 chiral molecules were further analyzed and separated into the respective enantiomers by chiral HPLC, with the absolute configurations assigned via electronic circular dichroism analysis, which has clarified the puzzles on their optical/enantiomeric purity and configurational assignment in the previous reports. Most isolates showed significant inhibitory a
