Gender Minority Stress Experiences After Gender-Affirming Medical Care.

Understanding experiences of gender minority stress after gender-affirming medical care can improve post-treatment outcomes and provide transdiagnostic interventions targets for trans and gender diverse (TGD) individuals. This study aimed to describe proximal gender minority stress after gender-affirming care, and correlate high versus low stress to patient characteristics. In a cross-sectional study, participants were recruited through healthcare providers and community outlets to complete an online questionnaire. The quartiles with highest and lowest minority stress on the Transgender Identi

Pathways From Cyber Victimization to Adolescent Depression: A Latent Profile and Bridge Network Analysis.

Cyber victimization is among the most consistent predictors of depression (DEP) in adolescence, yet research has largely treated both constructs as unidimensional totals, obscuring which specific victimization experiences activate which depressive symptoms and for whom. This study applied a person-centered and network psychometric approach to map these pathways in a cross-sectional community sample of 622 Turkish adolescents (55.0% female; M aɡe = 13.90 years). Latent profile analysis (LPA) identified three distinct subgroups based on self-esteem (SE), family affluence, and social media (SM) u

The Effects of Cognitive Flexibility on the Relation between Community Violence Exposure, Bilingualism, and Mental Health Symptoms in Latinx Youth.

Latinx youth in the United States experience disproportionate exposure to community violence, which contributes to elevated rates of mental health symptoms. Research suggests that individual differences, such as cognitive flexibility (CF) and bilingualism, may serve as protective factors in the context of exposure to community violence. The present study examined associations among community violence exposure, bilingual proficiency, CF, and mental health symptoms among Latinx children. We also tested whether CF moderated associations between community violence exposure, bilingual proficiency,

Impacts of digital third-wave interventions for adults on wellbeing and mental health outcomes: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

To synthesise the efficacy of digital third-wave process-based interventions (e.g., ACT, Mindfulness, Compassion) for improving wellbeing and ameliorating mental health symptoms in adults. A prospectively registered systematic review (OSF: 10.17605/OSF.IO/5RMU2) and random-effects meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted across six databases through January 2026. Certainty of evidence was assessed using the GRADE framework. Interventions (k = 147; N = 26,391) yielded small-to-moderate immediate post-intervention improvements in wellbeing (k = 46, g = 0.36), depression

The prospective associations between parent and adolescent emotional reactivity and adolescent psychopathology.

This study examined how adolescent and parent emotional reactivity to daily parent-adolescent conflict is associated with adolescent psychopathology over time. A community sample of 237 Taiwanese parent-adolescent dyads (adolescents: Mage = 14.80, SDage = 2.08; 58% female; parents: Mage = 42.36, SDage = 8.57; 68% female) completed 10 days of daily reports on parent-adolescent conflict and emotions, and adolescents reported depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and externalizing problems at baseline and six-month follow-up. The results showed that greater adolescent negative emotional (NE) rea

Associations between psychological distress symptoms and cognitive function among trauma-exposed women: Moderating role of the developmental period of trauma exposure.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related internalizing symptoms, including anxiety and depression, are associated with emotional-cognitive alterations. These alterations, such as biased attentional processing and reduced emotional inhibition, are thought to contribute to persistent distress. However, these associations may vary across individuals. Developmental neuroscience suggests that the timing of trauma exposure (childhood, adolescence, adulthood) can differentially influence brain development and emotional processing. This study examined whether the developmental period of first

Active park use, nature connectedness, and multidimensional long-term mental health: dose-response relationships and mechanistic pathways in a high-density Chinese metropolis.

Rapid urbanization poses significant mental health challenges to the working-age population in high-density metropolises. Although urban parks offer mental health benefits, non-linear dose-response relationships, optimal exposure thresholds, and the mediating or moderation roles of nature connectedness (NC) remain inadequately understood. This study examined 620 working-age adults in Wuhan, China, using generalized additive models (GAMs) to trace dose-response trajectories and determine park use duration (PUD) thresholds across stress, depression, anxiety, and well-being. A counterfactual medi

Mental Health Disparities Across Sexual Role Identities (Top, Bottom, Versatile, Side) in Gay and Bisexual Men: A Three-Level Meta-Analysis.

Sexual role identity (SRI; e.g. Top, Bottom, Versatile, Side/Others) is a central feature of gay and bisexual men's sexual self-definition and a potential source of intra-minority stress such as bottom-shaming, yet its mental health correlates remain unclear and empirical findings are mixed. This preregistered three-level meta-analysis synthesized 393 effect sizes from 41 studies (N = 27,819) on men with a history of same-sex behavior, published in Chinese and English databases up to January 2025. All effect sizes were converted to Cohen's d and modeled using three-level random-effects models.

Supporting physical activity through co-production in people with severe mental illness (SPACES): study protocol for a pragmatic, parallel-group randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Life expectancy is reduced by around 15–20 years for people with severe mental illness (SMI) compared with those without this condition. Many early deaths stem from preventable physical health problems linked to behaviours such as poor diet, smoking and low physical activity. Increasing physical activity can improve overall health. People with SMI are typically less active than the general population and supporting them to increase activity could help reduce the life expectancy gap. This study aims to explore the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a co-produced physical activity

Psychological and somatic distress profiles in young adults in and out of conflict settings: a cluster-based analysis of three population-based studies in Ukraine and Switzerland.

BACKGROUND: Young adulthood is a developmental period characterized by major life transitions and increased exposure to stress, during which vulnerability to psychological and somatic symptoms may be heightened. These symptoms frequently co-occur, posing challenges for diagnostic and treatment approaches. Despite the mental and physical symptom burden among young adults, population-based data on symptom patterns in this age group remains sparse. This study investigates psychological and somatic symptom patterns among young adults in three populations with differing socio-geographic and war-rel

Non-pharmacological interventions for perinatal parental depression and anxiety: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Perinatal depression and anxiety exhibit significant partner interdependence and family-level ramifications, constituting a family issue concerning both parents. However, existing evidence syntheses have predominantly examined maternal or paternal mental health in isolation, neglecting the systemic integrity of the family unit. OBJECTIVE: To conduct the first Bayesian network meta-analysis to evaluate and rank non-pharmacological interventions delivered concurrently to both parents for perinatal depression and anxiety. METHODS: Seven databases were searched from inception to May

Investigating Sensorimotor Decision-Making in Depressed Individuals Using a Bayesian Approach.

Depression is among the most prevalent and disabling mental health conditions worldwide. It is associated with low mood and motivation, cognitive inefficiencies, altered reward and punishment learning, and broader executive dysfunction that can disrupt daily functioning. Depression has also been linked to differences in sensory perception, sensitivity, and processing speed. However, how depression affects sensorimotor decision-making under uncertainty remains comparatively understudied. In this study, we examined how individuals with depression process and weigh prior information relative to c

Bridging evidence gaps in opioid-sparing postoperative pain control for percutaneous nephrolithotomy: a network meta-analysis identifying optimal strategies.

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is the gold standard for large renal calculi, yet postoperative pain from tract dilation, capsule injury, and inflammation often delays recovery, prolongs hospital stays, and reduces patient satisfaction. Amid the opioid crisis, reliance on opioids for pain control raises concerns over adverse effects like respiratory depression, nausea, and dependence. This has spurred interest in opioid-sparing multimodal strategies, with recent studies suggesting feasibility of opioid-free discharge and comparable relief from NSAIDs with fewer side effects. However, robus
