The DSM-IV and ICD-10 are both operational diagnostic systems that classify known psychological disorders according to the number of criteria symptoms. BACKGROUND: An open, multi-centre study was designed to address the effectiveness and tolerability profile of treatment with escitalopram under naturalistic conditions, in elderly outpatients (above 65 years of age) with depression.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 2 050 patients completed 8 weeks of treatment with escitalopram. Rating scales included a short version of the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (svMADRS), the Clinical Global Impression - Severity scale (CGI-S), and the Clinical Global Impression -Improvement scale (CGI-I) for the assessment of various clinical parameters.

AIM: The aim of this paper was to assess the risk for depression in a 6-month-long post stroke follow up period as related to the stroke variables (i.e. stroke localisation, haemodynamic parameters).
