As a core feature of social anxiety disorder (SAD), the neural mechanisms through which fear of positive evaluation (FPE) influences the processing of social feedback remain unclear. This study employed the Social Judgment Paradigm (SJP) to compare neural activity in individuals with high and low FPE when they received expected or unexpected social acceptance or rejection feedback. Behavioral results indicated that the low FPE group exhibited a positive expectancy bias, whereas the high FPE group showed no such tendency. Neuroelectrophysiological findings revealed that unexpected feedback elic

Fear of movement is a main driver of disability and a key treatment target in chronic pain, though its neurobiological bases remain poorly understood. Here, we combine functional MRI with machine learning to identify and evaluate a brain pattern of fear of neck movement in a sample of individuals with chronic whiplash-associated disorders. During fMRI, participants were shown photographs of neck positions. The multivariate pattern, which we term the PiFoneM (Picture-Induced Fear of Neck Movement), accurately predicted self-reported fear of neck movement (n = 56; cross-validated prediction-outc

BACKGROUND: Reliable and valid assessments of pain vigilance and awareness are crucial for understanding and treating pain within cognitive-behavioral frameworks, such as the fear-Avoidance Model. While the Pain Vigilance and Awareness Questionnaire (PVAQ) is a widely used tool for this purpose, no culturally adapted and validated version exists for the Turkish-speaking population, creating an instrumental and clinical gap. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and comprehensively evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the PVAQ in a sample of patie

Public speaking is one of the most commonly feared situations by socially anxious adolescents, often prompting behavioral anxiety markers including gaze avoidance and speech disruptions. While the potential adverse social consequences of behavioral anxiety markers in public speaking contexts have been established, research into how these markers might alter through cognitive behavior therapy is still in its infancy. In this preliminary study, we investigated changes in gaze behavior and speech disruptions from before to after 12 weeks of disorder-specific group cognitive behavior therapy among

Social anxiety disorder is common among patients considered for metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS). The combination of social anxiety with obesity may, however, be associated with a higher risk for adverse outcomes after surgery. In this nationwide, registry-based, matched cohort study, all patients who underwent primary MBS in Sweden from 2007 until 2019 and who had a diagnosis of moderate to severe social anxiety disorder (n = 586) were matched using a Propensity score to controls who underwent the same treatment but who did not have social anxiety disorder (n = 5791) with a mean follow-u

BACKGROUND: Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is a prevalent anxiety disorder within contemporary mental health practice, attracting increasing attention. Self-guided virtual reality exposure therapy (SGVRET) has been demonstrated to be an effective intervention for SAD in multiple studies. Although research suggests SGVRET may alleviate SAD symptoms, systematic reviews examining its efficacy in treating SAD remain lacking.
METHOD: This protocol outlines a systematic review designed to assess the efficacy of SGVRET as a intervention for SAD. The study adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for

BACKGROUND: The insecurity and fear regarding the practice of neurology by medical students and newly graduated doctors are known as neurophobia. This condition contributes for relative paucity of neurologists and insecurity in the management of neurological diseases by doctors in primary health care.
OBJECTIVES: Our aim is to identify the presence of neurophobia in medical students, determine its likely origin, and to propose solutions.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional, observational, noninterventionist, and quantitative study was performed between April 2022 and October 2023, using

Although rejection is a universal human experience, the short- and long-term social and emotional consequences of naturally occurring rejection are understudied. Using two experience-sampling designs, we delineated the concurrent and prospective sequelae of rejection. Study 1 used daily diary data collected in 2020 to examine how rejection experiences predicted daily emotional well-being and social motivation in 269 participants (age range = 18-73) screened for social anxiety and/or depression symptoms. Study 2 used denser, within-day sampling via ecological momentary assessment data collected

BACKGROUND: Anterior glenohumeral instability is a common issue, particularly among young and active individuals. Arthroscopic Bankart repair is an effective surgical method for achieving long-term shoulder stability. However, despite favorable biomechanical outcomes, return to sport rates vary widely. Psychological factors, especially kinesiophobia, may play a decisive role in this variability.
PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of postoperative kinesiophobia on clinical outcomes, functional scores, and return to sport following arthroscopic Bankart repair.

The identification of predictors of treatment response in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for social anxiety disorder (SAD) could help to improve treatment outcomes. This study sought to identify which specific social anxiety symptoms measured pre-treatment were associated with post-treatment outcomes. A pre-registered retrospective cohort study was conducted including a sample of N = 1315 patients treated with CBT for SAD in routine clinical practice. The sample was partitioned into training and test subsets (random 50:50 split) to evaluate the model's out-of-sample performance. The outco

This paper examines dreams that become landmarks in analytic work, opening new pathways for understanding a patient's internal world. Through the analysis of a young patient whose sessions oscillated between despair, omnipotence, and intense claustrophobic anxieties, it shows how dreams provided a shared space for the development of imaginative conjectures. A central dream-structured as a film perceived from multiple points of view-revealed the patient's unstable contact-barrier and her confusion between psychotic and non-psychotic modes of experience. The paper shows how this dream provided a

ObjectiveChildhood maltreatment is a well-established risk factor for the development of mental disorders. Interpretation bias has been proposed as a potential mechanism mediating the relationship between childhood maltreatment and subsequent psychopathology. This study investigated differences in interpretation bias and psychopathology symptoms based on experiences of childhood abuse and neglect. It also examined whether interpretation bias mediates the relationship between childhood maltreatment and symptoms of psychopathology using network analysis. Methods: A cross-sectional sample of 123

OBJECTIVE: The review will examine the association between nomophobia and health outcomes among university students.
INTRODUCTION: Nomophobia is characterized by the fear of losing access or connectivity to one's mobile phone, due to issues such as technical problems, battery depletion, or involuntary separation. As nomophobia is a relatively recent phenomenon, data quantifying the adverse effects are crucial, and its relationship with physical, psychological, and psychosocial health consequences among university students remains unclear.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: This review will include cross-

BACKGROUND: Non-specific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP) is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition associated with disability, pain, and reduced quality of life. Core stability exercises combined with dual-task training may improve clinical outcomes; however, evidence is limited. This study compared the effectiveness of core stability exercises with dual-task training (CSD) versus general exercises with dual-task training (GED) on disability, pain, quality of life, fear-avoidance beliefs, and kinesiophobia in individuals with NSCLBP.
METHODS: 47 participants with NSCLBP (40.27 ± 7.69 years) wer

BACKGROUND: Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs) are widely utilized in tumor patients due to their lower risk of complications, extended indwelling duration, reduced local tissue trauma, and overall cost-effectiveness. Based on the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) theory, this study aims to explore the current status and influencing factors of kinesiophobia in tumor patients with PICCs. The study provides reference for clarifying the mechanism of kinesiophobia and developing nursing intervention plans.
METHOD: Through convenience sampling, 162 tumor patients who underwent PIC

Everyday behaviour is comprised of myriad components that must be seamlessly coordinated for action to be effective. Individual differences, specifically variation in mental health symptoms, influence how this challenge is navigated, however, their impact in naturalistic settings remains unclear. Adopting a dynamical systems perspective, here we examined whether subclinical variation in symptoms associated with social anxiety disorder (SAD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) modulate individual movement dynamics during an everyday activity - walking on a university campus. Participants (n = 93

Recently, the effectiveness of noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques, such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), has been shown in psychiatric disorders. Here, a new, intensified protocol has been developed, which is suggested to induce late-phase long-term potentiation (LTP)-like plasticity, and increase efficacy of the intervention. In the present case report, we evaluated the effectiveness of a new intensified tDCS protocol (30 sessions, 2 mA for 20 min, 2 sessions daily with a 20 min interval between daily sessions, for 15 d) applied to the left ventromedial prefront
