The Role of Resiliency Education in Prenatal Classes on Maternal Mental Health.

PURPOSE: Pregnant women with low incomes and racial/ethnic minorities experience higher rates of maternal depression and anxiety, which negatively impact maternal and infant well-being. Racial minorities experience increased stress due to social factors and ongoing systemic inequalities in the United States. To address these disparities, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (LACDHS) developed a novel prenatal education and support curriculum that incorporated resilience-building to deliver in-person, interactive prenatal education content. METHODS: An evidence-based resilience

Syndemic Pattern of Sexualized Drug Use and Mental Distress Among Trans Women/Khawaja Siras in Pakistan: Results From a Multicentric Latent Class Analysis.

Trans women, or Khawaja Sira, are a marginalized community in Pakistan. There is limited social inclusivity and high stigma for them in mainstream spaces. This leads to mental distress and compromised psychological well-being. The current study aims to identify latent classes of mental distress, substance use patterns, and their associated factors. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted from 1 May 2025 to 10 June 2025 at seven community-based organizations. Self-identified trans women were recruited through the HIV community organization. Anxiety and depressive symptoms were measured

Music-evoked EEG signals for mental health assessment using two- and three-class classification.

INTRODUCTION: Electroencephalography (EEG), a non-invasive method of measuring brain activity, has become a valuable tool in mental health research for examining neural activity associated with various psychological disorders and neurofeedback therapies, including music therapy. However, the use of EEG under music and no-music conditions for mental health screening remains insufficiently validated. METHODS: In this preliminary study, we implemented an experimental protocol in which 48 participants underwent EEG recordings during both music and no-music sessions with identical relaxation instr

Functional Neurological Disorder Management in a Pediatric Hospital: A Retrospective Chart Review.

BACKGROUND: Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a complex, multinetwork brain disorder that is characterized by the presence of a broad range of neurological symptoms in the absence of neurological disease or damage. For pediatric patients requiring an in-patient stay, misdiagnosis, lack of provider consistency and diagnostic education, frequent testing and work-up, and invasive procedures are often reported. This review will characterize the population, identify current state for receiving diagnosis, detect variability in service delivery, and provide information to evaluate use of reso

Finding salvage in standardization? Structural and longitudinal evaluation of the patient health questionnaire anxiety and depression scale in a UK representative sample.

OBJECTIVES: Some research funders mandate the use of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) as independent measures of depression and anxiety. This study examined their independence in a UK representative sample by testing the structural validity, external validity, longitudinal measurement invariance and growth trajectories of the Patient Health Questionnaire Anxiety and Depression Scale (PHQ-ADS). METHODS: Data from Waves 1 (N = 2025), 2 (N = 1406) and 3 (N = 1166) of the COVID-19 Psychological Research Consortium Study were analysed. Confirmat

Connection-Level Multi-Omics Reveals Cerebellar-Cortical Dysconnectivity and Divergent Molecular Signatures Across Major Psychiatric Disorders.

BACKGROUND: Understanding how disease-related connectome alterations relate to underlying molecular systems remains a major challenge in psychiatric disorders. METHODS: Here we introduce BrainNetAnno (https://brainnetanno.readthedocs.io/en/latest), an open-source framework for molecular annotation of brain network connections that extends multi-omics mapping from regional nodes to inter-regional edges. We applied this framework to resting-state functional connectivity data from a discovery cohort of 2,453 participants and an independent validation cohort of 442, including individuals with maj

Trajectory of maternal perinatal negative psychological states and its association with early offspring neurodevelopment: A longitudinal cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Existing studies often examined single psychological states in isolation (depression, anxiety, stress) or used static assessments, limiting the understanding of dynamic trajectories and synergistic effects of co-occurring psychological states. The study was designed to tackle both major limitations. METHODS: 609 pregnant women in their third trimester were enrolled. Maternal depression, anxiety, and perceived stress were repeatedly assessed at the third trimester and 1, 3, and 6 months postpartum using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item s

Efficacy of a Prescription-Based Mobile Digital Therapeutic as an Adjunct to Pharmacotherapy for the Acute Phase of Panic Disorder: Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Although pharmacotherapy is the primary treatment for patients with acute-phase panic disorder, its incomplete efficacy causes them to experience frequent panic attacks and severe anticipatory anxiety for a considerable period. A prescription-based mobile digital therapeutic (DTx) that integrates self-guided cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), real-time symptom management, and lifestyle tracking can be used as an adjunct to pharmacotherapy for these patients, helping them achieve rapid symptom recovery. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of this adjunctive DTx in

BACKGROUND: As the impacts of the climate crisis escalate, adolescents face increasing threats to their health and well-being. However, little is known about the extent to which young adolescents experience climate worry (both in its general affective response and its specific cognitive concerns) and whether it is distinguishable from generalized anxiety. This study examined the prevalence of climate worry in young adolescents and tested its association with mental health and well-being while controlling for generalized anxiety. METHODS: Young adolescents (n = 1230; Mage = 12.85, 49% boys) fr
