Continuous monitoring of rumination is highly informative for assessing cattle health and welfare. Traditional methods for rumination detection, such as pressure sensors, accelerometers, and acoustic sensors, require direct attachment to animals, which can be costly and stressful for the animals. This study proposes a non-contact approach for characterizing post-regurgitation deep inhalation (PRDI) in calves using infrared thermography and deep learning-based nostril segmentation. Synchronized RGB and temperature data were collected from 8 calves across 28 imaging sessions, during which rumina

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) poses significant health risks, yet diagnosis lacks objective biomarkers. This systematic review synthesizes functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) studies (2020-2025, n = 52) on functional connectivity (FC) in MDD. We found robust FC alterations within and between core networks (Default Mode, Salience, Central Executive), linked to rumination, emotion dysregulation, and cognitive deficits. These alterations varied with suicidal ideation, comorbidities, childhood trauma, and biological sex. Treatments (antidepressants, rTMS, ECT) demonstrated distinct norm

Experiencing the death of a loved one often leads to a crisis of meaning, prompting efforts to restore coherence through meaning-making. Although several models have addressed this process, few studies have empirically examined how distinct forms of meaning (situational and global) emerge and interrelate. The present study used structural equation modelling to investigate meaning-making in bereavement. A model was developed incorporating variables from existing frameworks (crisis of meaning, distress, deliberate and intrusive rumination, emotional expression) and existential constructs (uncert

INTRODUCTION: Teacher emotion regulation is increasingly recognized as a critical determinant of instructional quality, professional well-being, and student success, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts where linguistic challenges, sociocultural diversity, and high emotional labor intensify classroom demands. However, a comprehensive synthesis of the evidence linking these strategies to multi-level outcomes (teacher, student, and institutional) remains lacking. This systematic review synthesized findings from 165 peer-reviewed studies published between 1998 and 2025 to

The aim of this review is to quantify the strength of evidence for the efficacy of exogenous enzymes (EE) in dairy calf rearing, by systematically identifying, consolidating and discussing existing research on the subject. This review identified 17 articles that measured the effect of EE alone or in combination with another treatment on indicator variables for calf performance, behaviour, health or environmental output; 15 studies realised a positive effect of enzyme supplementation on at least one variable, and one study realised a negative effect of treatment on body parameters. Inconsistent

Psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) refer to hallucination-like (HLEs) or delusion-like (DLEs) experiences defined as subclinical phenomena located at the lower end of the psychosis continuum. PLEs etiology includes neurodevelopmental changes, maladaptive coping styles, exposure to negative emotions, and stress. These factors frequently co-occur in individuals with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms, considered a risk factor for PLEs. A total of 188 participants from the general population completed the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS) questionnaire and participated in a

"It takes a village" to build an ethical workplace, and employees who witness unethical behavior in the workplace play a crucial role in alerting organizations to wrongdoing and preventing its recurrence. While prior research has primarily focused on personal and intraorganizational factors shaping observer responses to workplace unethical behavior, the potential influence of extraorganizational factors has been largely overlooked. Recognizing that employees often share workplace experiences with close others, such as their family members, we explore how the extent of sharing with family membe

We measured the effect of physically effective NDF (peNDF) in diets containing lower or higher concentrations of undegraded NDF at 240 h of in vitro fermentation (uNDF240) on DMI, milk production and composition, chewing behavior, ruminal responses, and nutrient digestibility. Sixteen Holstein cows (8 ruminally cannulated) averaging 123 ± 9 (SD) DIM were used in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design with 4-wk periods. Cows were fed TMR that differed in uNDF240 and peNDF content primarily by changing forage-to-concentrate ratio and particle size of timothy hay. Treatments were arranged as a 2

OBJECTIVE: It is widely accepted that childhood traumas increase the risk of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adulthood and contribute to the chronicity of the disorder. Various mediating factors are believed to exist in the relationship between childhood trauma and depression. The aim of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of rumination in the relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and MDD in a clinical sample.
METHODS: The sample of this cross-sectional study comprised 94 patients aged 18-65 diagnosed with MDD at the Gülhane Training and Research Hospital Psych

Repetitive negative thinking is a transdiagnostic cognitive process that is particularly prevalent during adolescence, a developmental period characterized by rapid changes in emotional regulation and executive control. Repetitive negative thinking is closely associated with a range of internalizing problems and represents an important risk factor for adolescent depression and anxiety. Given that academic pressure and self-focused attention increase markedly during the high school stage (ages 15–17), repetitive negative thinking is more likely to be activated and maintained during this period;

Automatic Milking Systems (AMSs) enable the continuous recording of production, milkability, behavioral, and physiological traits, offering new opportunities for genetic evaluation in dairy cattle. This study aimed to estimate variance components and genetic parameters for milk yield-related traits, milking efficiency traits, rumination time (RT), and daily average milk temperature (MTEMP) using AMS-derived data from 1252 Holstein cows. 65,475 weekly records from a single commercial herd were analyzed using repeatability animal models fitted by restricted maximum likelihood. Difficulties in emotion regulation (ER) have been consistently associated with eating disorders (EDs). However, little is known about how this association operates during early adolescence, and the specific influence of sex. Objectives: This study aims to assess if maladaptive ER strategies predict greater ED symptomatology, while adaptive strategies predict lower levels of EDs symptoms among early adolescents. Additionally, the moderating effect of sex will also be assessed in these associations. Method: Ninety-eight Spanish-speaking adolescents aged 12-15 years (55 girls, 43 boys) participat

OBJECTIVE: Prior studies have found associations between sleep disturbances and suicide ideation among adolescents. However, there is limited prospective research examining cognitive mechanisms that explain this relationship. This present longitudinal study aimed to examine the mediating role of rumination in the relationship between sleep quality and suicide ideation over time. We hypothesized that low sleep quality would be associated with increased suicide ideation severity over time and that rumination would mediate the relationship.
METHODS: Adolescents (N = 117), ages 12-19, who present

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of psychosomatic disorders associated with emotional instability has risen considerably in recent years. Among the different negative emotions, anger stands out as the most intense and prototypical. When excessive and poorly regulated, it serves as a significant contributing factor in the pathogenesis of various psychosomatic disorders.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to develop and systematically validate an integrated Ayurvedic Anger Assessment Scale (AAAS) for the adult population based on Ayurvedic, Indian philosophical, and contemporary psychological concepts, and t

Shame and the tendency to ruminate have been linked to the onset and persistence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). We examined the relationship between shame, current levels of rumination, and a potential protective factor, self-compassion, and symptoms of PTSD and depression among military veterans and active-duty service members (n = 307). Shame and current levels of rumination were both strongly correlated with symptoms of PTSD and depression. Moreover, rumination was a predictor of both symptoms of PTSD and depression and mediated the relationshi

BACKGROUND: Adolescents play a crucial role in societal advancement, and fostering their development is a global priority. The Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework emphasizes strength-based approaches, highlighting life skills such as teamwork, goal setting, and problem-solving. Physical education (PE) serves as an effective platform for cultivating these skills. While extensive research has explored sports’ role in life skills development across various regions, studies in Chinese-speaking contexts remain limited. Cultural and linguistic factors may influence psychological mechanisms un
