Links Between Externalizing And Internalizing Symptoms And Peer Victimization: The Role Of Rumination And Self-Efficacy.

OBJECTIVE: Bullying is a serious problem among school-age children, contributing to both internalizing and externalizing difficulties. The existing literature does not place much emphasis on the factors explaining the link between victimization and psychological difficulties. This study looked into the roles of rumination and self-efficacy in this relationship. METHOD: Data was collected from 362 children (202 girls; Mage = 13.1, SD = 1.16) over two points in time, separated by 6 months. RESULTS: Findings revealed a main effect of bullying status (being a victim of bullying vs. being non-inv

Effect of nocturnal feeding on locomotor activity and rumination rhythms, and sleep/wake cycle in diurnal dromedary camels.

The dromedary is a desert animal that is most active during daylight and rests at night. In its natural habitat, it spends most of the day grazing, whereas in an intensive livestock farming system, food availability is programmed by humans. Temporal feeding exerts a strong influence on the circadian rhythms of numerous species. These aspects have become challenging in camel husbandry, which has recently faced important changes, moving from extensive management with free grazing in the desert to urban and peri-urban intensive farms with various feeding schedules. The objective of the present st

Onset of feeding behavior in intensively housed dairy calves.

Development of early feed and water intake is not well documented in dairy calves, and little is known about how traditional, intensive feeding management influences the development of species-specific behaviors, such as rumination. Our first objective was to describe grain, water, and hay intake in calves from birth. Our second objective was to evaluate whether early access to hay influenced the likelihood of reaching biologically relevant thresholds of grain and water intake (grain: 50, 100, 250, 500, 900 g; water: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 L), and rumination (5%, 10%, 15%, 20% of a 24-h d) compared wit

Rehydrated ground corn silage as alternative to feedlot lambs: feeding behavior and performance.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of replacing ground corn with rehydrated ground corn silage (RGCS) in high-concentrate diets on the feeding behavior and performance of feedlot lambs. Forty, non-castrated, Santa Inês male lambs (approximately four months old with an average body weight of 21 ± 2.8 kg) were randomly assigned to a completely randomized design, with five dietary treatments, each including eight replications. The treatments consisted of replacing ground corn with RGCS at levels of 0, 250, 500, 750, and 1000 g/kg on a dry matter (DM) basis. The data collection period last

Interrelationships Between Self-Injury Addiction, Traumatic Experiences, and Rumination Among Adolescents With Non-Suicidal Self-Injury: A Network Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is on the rise in adolescent populations and its addictive profile, marked by frequent repetition, severe damage, and higher suicide risk, has raised broad concern. Childhood trauma is a key influencing factor that enhances emotional sensitivity and increases susceptibility to NSSI. Rumination, characterized by persistent negative thoughts, may mediate this association by amplifying emotional distress, as suggested by the emotional cascade model. Guided by the Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) model, this study employed networ

Program LIFT: protocol for a pilot feasibility factorial randomised controlled trial of digital single-session interventions to address self-harm and suicidal ideation in Australian community-based adolescents.

INTRODUCTION: Self-injurious thoughts and behaviours (SITBs) represent a critical public and mental health challenge. Adolescents are disproportionately at risk for engaging in SITBs. Intervening early and addressing pathogenic and proximal risk/vulnerability factors is of critical importance for this vulnerable population. Digital Single-Session Interventions (D-SSIs) offer a promising solution to unmet need for accessible, scalable and engaging care. This pilot study aims to evaluate the acceptability and feasibility of the interventions and clinical trial protocol for Programme LIFT (Little

Assessing Reinvestment Tendencies in Athletes: Psychometric Validation of Decision- and Movement-Specific Reinvestment Scales.

Reinvestment Theory proposes that excessive conscious control over movement execution or decision making can disrupt automaticity and contribute to performance breakdown under pressure. Despite its clinical relevance in sport psychology, culturally validated measures of reinvestment remain limited. This study examined the psychometric properties of adapted versions of the Decision-Specific Reinvestment Scale (DSRS) and Movement-Specific Reinvestment Scale (MSRS) in a sample of athletes and physically active individuals. Participants were 259 undergraduate sport science students (Mage = 20.34 y

The use of remote monitoring technologies for early detection of lameness in beef bulls during the breeding season.

Lameness during the breeding season can impair bulls' reproductive performance, but early detection may enable timely treatments or replacements to mitigate pregnancy losses. This study used remote monitoring technologies to investigate whether changes in beef bulls' behavior could be used for early identification of lameness during the breeding season. Twenty-five Angus bulls (12 in year 1; 13 in year 2) considered satisfactory at the breeding soundness exam were enrolled. Collars with GPS and accelerometers were placed on bulls at the start of the breeding season. Bulls were monitored on pas

Implicit emotion regulation affects the emotional information updating function of high trait ruminators: An ERP study.

Trait ruminators have negative emotionality, and their emotional information updating function may be impaired. According to the Auto-motive Model of Nonconscious Goal, implicit emotion regulation can improve both an individual's negative emotions and cognitive function while consuming fewer cognitive resources. It is unclear whether implicit emotion regulation affects the updating function in trait ruminators. Experiment 1 recruited 28 high trait ruminators and 28 low trait ruminators to complete the face 2-back task, exploring the characteristics of updating different emotional information i

Prolonged grief and insomnia symptoms in cancer-bereaved parents: a latent class analysis.

BACKGROUND: Parents who experience the death of a child may develop a range of mental health problems including insomnia and prolonged grief disorder (PGD). Insomnia symptoms predict worsening of prolonged grief symptoms and persons with more chronic insomnia trajectories may be at risk of developing PGD. However, it remains to be established when prolonged grief and insomnia symptomatology co-occur and which potential risk factors heighten the risk of comorbid insomnia and prolonged grief. METHODS: To address these questions, we conducted a cross-sectional, registry-based survey study involvi

Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Bereavement: A Systematized Narrative Review.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have shown promising effects across diverse areas of psychiatry, yet their specific role in bereavement remains insufficiently synthesized. Bereavement is a universal but heterogeneous process, with a minority of individuals at risk of developing prolonged grief disorder (PGD). Understanding the potential benefits of MBIs in this context is crucial for informing clinical practice. METHODS: Following the methodological framework of systematized narrative reviews, a comprehensive literature search was conducted across major databases

Childhood Trauma, Psychological Adjustment, and Self-Critical Rumination: Examining Longitudinal Mediation.

Childhood trauma is a significant precursor to long-term psychological distress and a well-established risk factor for interpersonal violence and revictimization across the lifespan. Despite its well-established impact, there are no longitudinal studies that examine the relationships between childhood trauma, psychological adjustment, and self-critical rumination in a Turkish sample. This study aimed to fill this gap by examining these relationships in 244 adults (Female = 194, Male = 50) over two waves, 3 months apart. The Adverse Childhood Experiences Scale, Brief Psychological Adjustment Sc

Clinical characteristics linked to persistent and emerging eating disorder risk trajectories in young people seeking mental health care.

UNLABELLED: Eating disorders (EDs) are serious mental health conditions with peak onset during adolescence and young adulthood. While early intervention services frequently encounter young people at-risk of EDs, little is known about the trajectories and factors associated with ED risk among those engaged in services over time. The sample includes 494 young people (aged 12–25 years) who presented to youth mental health services in Australia between 2011 and 12, primarily for emerging mood disorders. ED risk was assessed at baseline and 12-month follow-up using the SCOFF questionnaire, with sco

Glory or cage? A qualitative exploration of moral injury among retired college soldiers in Mainland China.

OBJECTIVE: Moral injury correlates significantly with posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, and suicide, affecting soldiers' combat effectiveness and well-being. Despite growing awareness, it is an emerging research area, mainly studied in Western military cohorts. In China, research on its mechanisms and influencing factors in the unique social-cultural context is scarce. Retired college soldiers are crucial, being high-quality military reserves and national defense educators. Their moral injury during service impacts postretirement adaptation and college conscription. Thus, exploring th
