Background: Individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDDs) experience persistent health inequities, exacerbated by the systemic lack of education of health care professionals about their care. In response to a 2020 call from the Administration for Community Living in the United States, five institutions formed the IDD Health Equity Consortium to develop a suite of educational materials and practice experiences to improve the education of health care professionals in the health and health care of individuals with IDDs. Methods: The Collective Impact Model, designed to al

Persistent knowledge-to-action gaps in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) limit the translation of evidence into policy and practice. Knowledge platform Share-Net International (SNI) uses Communities of Practice (CoPs) to support knowledge exchange, yet little is known about how CoPs facilitate knowledge translation. This study examined how CoPs across SNI's hubs translate SRHR knowledge into action and identified contextual factors shaping these processes. A transdisciplinary qualitative study (October 2024-January 2025) was conducted across eight SNI hubs. CoP members and facili

BACKGROUND: Adults with intellectual disabilities experience significantly worse health outcomes and die younger than people without intellectual disability. People with severe or profound intellectual disability have particularly complex health needs. However, no large-scale population-based studies have specifically examined mortality patterns and factors associated with age at death in this group.
METHODS AND FINDINGS: This population-based study used data from the English Learning from Lives and Deaths (LeDeR) mortality review programme and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) between

PURPOSE: To evaluate the learning curve of dual-mobility trapeziometacarpal arthroplasty using cumulative sum (CUSUM) analysis based on surgical time and clinical outcomes (complications and revisions) and report 2-year outcomes.
METHODS: This prospective single-surgeon case series included patients undergoing dual-mobility trapeziometacarpal joint arthroplasty between September 2018 and January 2023. Of 125 arthroplasties in 109 patients, 12 cases with concomitant procedures were excluded, leaving 113 arthroplasties in 99 patients for analysis. Consecutive cases were analyzed using CUSUM ana

BACKGROUND: Children and young people (CYP) with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) are more likely to grow up in poverty and be entitled to free school meals than other children. However, they might not eat well at school because their needs aren't always accommodated. There is a need to understand school food provision for children with SEND and how the whole school food environment (WSFE) can be improved to address health inequalities.
METHODS: We conducted scoping research and involved public and professional stakeholders in co-producing adaptations to a whole school foo

BACKGROUND: People with intellectual disabilities are more likely to take mental health (psychotropic) medications than other people. Despite long-standing concern about this, there has been little focus on how people with intellectual disabilities can be supported to be more involved in decisions about their medications.
METHOD: This co-produced study included interviews (N = 40) and an online survey (N = 134) with people with intellectual disabilities, family members, paid carers and prescribers.
RESULTS: It was most commonly medical professionals who made decisions about medications, desp

Digital technologies are increasingly integrated across health care systems; however, accumulating evidence shows that these tools often perform unevenly across population groups. Biases in AI-enabled tools can reinforce existing health inequities, particularly when systems are developed and validated using datasets that exclude underserved populations. Studies demonstrate systematic underestimation of illness severity, diagnostic inaccuracies, and measurement bias affecting ethnic minority groups, rural populations, people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, and other groups

PURPOSE: Preschoolers who are deafblind are a low-incidence and heterogeneous group. Consequently, many speech-language pathologists (SLPs) may not have encountered these children. However, SLPs are essential members of the educational team serving a child who is deafblind. Collaboration is necessary to address the child's unique strengths, type and degree of visual impairment and hearing loss, accompanying disabilities, and learning needs. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides a flexible approach to enhance collaboration that promotes the child's access to and development of social int

IMPORTANCE: Understanding early predictors of independent performance of daily living skills (DLS) in adolescents with autism can guide targeted interventions to promote independence and improve outcomes.
OBJECTIVE: To compare DLS performance among adolescents with autism, other developmental disabilities (DD), and the general population (POP), and identify early childhood predictors of independently performed DLS acquired by adolescence.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This longitudinal study collected data from caregivers of adolescents 12 to 16 years old (2018-2021) with a mean follow-

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This systematic review examines psychological interventions for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities within a neurodiversity framework, emphasizing that variations in cognition, behavior, and neurological functioning represent natural forms of human diversity rather than deficits.
METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted across the PubMed, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar databases for studies published between 2010 and 2025. Studies were included if they focused on children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning or intellectual disabilities (LD

Interacting with nature has significant benefits for our physical and psychosocial health. However, a lack of contact with nature has been linked to various pathologies such as obesity, asthma, neurodevelopmental disorders, and learning disabilities. Furthermore, excessive screen use is also associated with health problems in children and adolescents, such as obesity, mental health problems (anxiety, depression), and sleep disorders. Lack of contact with nature from an early age, combined with excessive screen use, contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle and has been associated with the developm

Phonological processing and decoding are core foundations of literacy acquisition. Children with speech sound disorders (SSD) often show weaknesses in phonological awareness, memory, and retrieval, which can compromise their ability to decode print into sound. However, outcomes among SSD populations are heterogeneous, particularly when developmental dyslexia (DD) co-occurs. This study examined whether early elementary school-aged children with SSD only, SSD with DD (SSD+DD), and DD exhibit distinct profiles across phonological processing and decoding abilities. Forty-seven school-aged Korean c

PURPOSE: Individuals with developmental dyslexia frequently exhibit impairments that extend beyond reading. Numerous studies examine fine motor skill deficits in dyslexia. The current study used meta-analysis to examine whether individuals with dyslexia show differences in motor skills when compared to age-matched individuals with neurotypical development, while also exploring possible moderators of effects.
METHOD: We report findings of a Bayesian hierarchical meta-analysis evaluating evidence of co-occurring motor skills deficits in dyslexia, using literature spanning 5 decades (1970-2025).

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) should be considered as a multifaceted neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by extensive cerebral structural, functional, and connectivity patterns. DCD is commonly associated with other developmental conditions, including attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities (LD), speech-language delays and emotional and behavioral problems. This comprehensive review, using PRISMA method, analyzes in 72 studies the relation between neurophysiological and neurobiological principles of pediatric DCD

Young adults with anxiety and depression often experience mental health-related disabilities (MHRD) that impair social, academic, occupational and daily functioning. These impairments, while significant, are frequently invisible, episodic, or lacking formal recognition; factors that limit their acknowledgment within healthcare systems designed to respond to more visible or diagnostically stable conditions. As MHRD rates among young adults rise there remains limited evidence on how functional impairments shape access to care. This scoping review examines peer-reviewed research on healthcare acc

Children with dyslexia, with or without concomitant developmental language disorder (DLD), have difficulty retaining the order of items presented in lists for immediate recall. The evidence to date, however, has not been systematic in the comparison of measures designed to isolate item and serial position information for both verbal and nonverbal tasks in children across age groups. We report on such a study in an immediate memory test battery including standard and running span measures for series of digits, locations, and shapes. We examined 677 English-speaking, United States children in Gr

BACKGROUND: Dyslexia is defined as reading achievement below the expected level for a child's age, education, and intelligence, with the impairment interfering significantly with academic success or the daily activities that involve reading. It is present in 5-17% of the population. It describes a kind of difficulty that some people have with reading that does not necessarily extend to other skills such as math.
AIM OF THE WORK: Evaluation of the effect of vitamin D supplementation on the dyslexic symptoms in children.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study conducted over a period of six months at

Children with neurodevelopmental disabilities are at high risk for sleep problems, which can negatively affect their health and that of their families. Improving sleep may be one of the most effective ways to improve behaviour, mood, positive social interaction, attention and learning, and reduce future risks for poor metabolic and mental health. While insomnia is the most common concern, increased rates of other sleep disorders are also found in this population. Sleep problems require prompt identification and intervention, which includes recognizing or ruling out contributory medical conditi
