BACKGROUND: Neuroimaging evidence suggests that the pathological alterations associated with blepharospasm (BSP) are not confined to a single brain region but involve large-scale brain networks. However, the higher-order interactions among connections within these networks remain poorly understood. This study proposes to use an edge-centric analytical approach combined with motif analysis to characterize abnormalities in information flow and functional integration in BSP brain networks.

BACKGROUND: Primary congenital glaucoma (PCG), the most prevalent pediatric variant, is a major contributor of childhood blindness globally. Traditional diagnosis relies on clinical features such as the classic triad (epiphora, photophobia, and blepharospasm), elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), corneal enlargement and optic disc cupping. Treatment of neurotrophic keratitis (NTK) remains one of the challenges in ophthalmology. This article presents a case of successful use of recombinant nerve growth factor in the treatment of NK in a child with ichthyosis follicularis, atrichia, and photophobia (IFAP syndrome), type 2. The child had blepharospasm and extensive corneal epithelial defects with superficial vascularization in both eyes since birth. Despite local trophic therapy, the erosions persisted. The child was diagnosed with the systemic condition «ichthyosis follicularis, atrichia, and photophobia (IFAP syndrome), type 2».

PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term functional and aesthetic outcomes of orbicularis myectomy in patients with medically refractory benign essential blepharospasm and to contextualize findings within current surgical literature.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 80 patients (129 eyelids) who underwent subtotal orbicularis myectomy between 2014 and 2023. Bilateral procedures were performed sequentially.
